A Star is Born... and the Club Scene just got HOTTER!

Greets, fellow Club-Crawlers!

It's my pleasure to post this little review of what promises to be one HOT night spot, now looming on our collective horizon... SODOM, the brainchild of James Hoorenbeek, and operated by James, Random Jarvinen, Club Manager Equinox Donner, and other team members, for our collective dancing and night-clubbing pleasure.

The club features 3 dance venues, including a rooftop party area, third-floor indoor dance club, and a "dungeon"... let your imagination wrap around those concepts, just a bit, along with the name, lol!

Also featured will be shopping, beach/boardwalk, and apartment rentals, all stylishly appointed and beautifully designed and executed, to provide a stunning venue for SL's vibrant gay community, (and, of course, all are welcome!).

It's my pleasure to have been chosen as one of the first Dancers for the club, along with Aiddyn McCullough, Kaine Singer, and Tanner Burnstein, and and I can tell you from two brief "pre-party" events that this is going to be one great place to hang, dance, and socialize... and the hot attendees will definitely be worth a passing perv-cam or two, hee hee!

Already featured have been DJ Dafydd Sodwind and DJ Muhu Janus, spinning their awesome collections of stunning club beats for our listening and dancing pleasure, and if my instincts prove right, the list will only grow and improve as this new venue takes off.

Look for the Grand Opening Event, called "Hotter than HELL", on Friday, October 31st at 8PM SLT, (to midnight and perhaps beyond?), with DJ Dafydd doing a 4-hour live mix, promotion courtesy of Total Trauma™, and a grand prize of $25000L (yes, that's right 25K!) for best costume!

Your Dancers will be adorned in "Slave Boy" silks, courtesy of Miro Callas, and psst! come closer... clicking on them may prove rather, erm, "entertaining", lol!

I do hope, with all the parties occurring around the Hallowe'en holiday, that you'll put aside some time to drop in and participate in what promises to be a truly stunning Grand Opening of a very promising and "drama free" dancing and night-clubbing venue... explore the SIM, and take in the beautiful facilities, and always, always, HAVE FUN!!!

My Pretty Pony - not quite!

If the mention of Pony Boys has you thinking of "pretty-in-pink" children's toys, you're trotting down the wrong path. The new generation of pony play to hit SL is strictly for adults... especially those with a fetish for leather harnesses and horse whips.

Yes, it's true, women have been involved in pony play for some time, but now more men are getting in on the fun. Pony Boys don't fall into the furry category. Their closest SL cousin might be the nekos, since these hot-looking hooved beasts walk upright in a human shape accented with with horse tackle -- from mouth bit to horseshoe. However, unlike the sexy cats, Pony Boys are typically collared, submitting to their owners.

Don't let the feathered headdress fool you. These ponies are ready for work. They can pull carriages, be saddled for a ride in the country, or be your sexual slave. Some of these gorgous creatures even undergo training for competition in jumping steeple chase and the English riding style of dressage.

While the number of Pony Boys out there now is relatively low, their herd increases every day. Appropriate gear can be purchased at a number of places that sell more traditional BDSM equipment. A good AO will greatly enhance the role play, allowing your pony to stomp, whinny, wiggle his cute tail and toss his head among other options. And if you don't have room to keep him at home, there are a few stables that will board your Pony Boy for a small fee.

For those interested in learning more about becoming a sexy Pony Boy -- or owning one -- search for "pony play" both in Places and in Groups. Give your imagination free rein!

A Fond Farewell

After an amazing time with inV, I've made the difficult decision to pursue other opportunities. I want to thank everyone for the great times we've had. Working so closely with Ammon, Cole and Adian has made them family to me and I will always feel that way about them. I'd better still be invited to those staff meetings *cough* Greedy games *cough* (I know I said the big inV secret was safe with me, but--well--the people deserve to know).

I know that inV has great plans for the future and I hope to be back from time to time to guest write. Change is difficult, but I've learned that it is necessary for continued growth and happiness. It never means that we have to forget the connections we've made or the memories we've shared.

Good luck everyone. I'm sure I'll still see you, but I'll miss having this forum for interaction. Stay safe and keep SL fun.

Castle Valeriya, A gallery worth seeing

Article by: Ricken Flow
Photos by: Cienega Soon

Taking Second Life photography from snapshots to true art, Cienega Soon has made a name for herself in-world. Her pieces are intense and display the many possibilities of Second Life shots. Her gallery, Castle Valeriya, offers the perfect atmosphere to display her works. Cienega took a moment away from her work to discuss her work and her gallery.

inVd: You have become quite and accomplished photographer! How did you get your start in Second Life?

Cienega: As soon as I discovered the snapshot button at the bottom of the screen I started collecting SLphotos. I am an avid photographer in RL so this was a fun new medium to add to my creative expressions. After I spent a few months as a virtual real estate consultant I bought my first 512 plot and made a small gallery of my SL photos. 6 months later I aquired my first photoshop program, omg that was scary. All I could do was crop and add my name. Then I discovered the filters tab. My first photoshoped photo is still the first one on my Flickr. Shortly after I learned how to fix the edges of SL’s screenshots I would just make profile photos for newbies as surprises and just send them to them with a “hope you like this." I still love doing that. Then it was Fantasy Images gallery owner Bella Liadis, who asked me if I would please exhibit in her gallery. I was so nervous. The comments of that opening day gave me the courage to just ignore those that said SL screenshots is NOT photography and Photoshop on screenshots is NOT art.

__
inVd: Art is often said to be an imitation of life. How does your photography/art represent your Second Life?

Cienega: My SLphoto Artistry is exactly that. I have fun creating moods and moments. I guess it’s really just an extension of what I get to do in a virtual world. I really can’t take this virtual life to serious unless I can bring my creativity with me. Creativity is a human trait I relate to very well, no matter what the medium is.

__
inVd: What excites you the most finding a great subject to photograph in SL or making the picture your own in photoshop?

Cienega: The shot is most important to me. Subjects change with angles so once I see something I like then I’m using ctrl alt and zooming all over it. I really never know what it will be in the end. Each shot is handled on its own merits. I do have many that are not post-processed in any way. But for me the tools photoshop puts in my hand is my expression for depth and emotion. Every texture in Second Life is a product of a paint program of some kind. All skins, walls, streets, buildings, furniture, hair, clothing and so on are someone’s artwork. My artwork is what I do with my SL screenshot/photo. I get very excited when I dig into the colors and depth of what I do to a shot. And of course the layers of detail, all this is not much different than my RL mixes of stained-glass, wood and grinded-metal. Just creating, is what I do, and I can’t be stopped. And there isn’t a need for a plasma cutter in SL, so I will just snap and PS my work whilst sipping some tea.

__
inVd: We have seen you take your showings beyond a normal gallery incorporated different builds with your artworks such as your exhibit Oil Pigs for burning life and your Darkness exhibit for second life’s 5th birthday. Do you create your own builds as well or do you collaborate with builders and what is your inspiration behind the exhibits?

Cienega: The Darkness build for SL5B was my first attempt to express myself beyond just a flat photo. I did that build alone. Light was invited to play on the edges of Darkness. Second Life makes it easy to bring out the darker side of my art. I enjoyed it so much I’ve added a bit of it to my Castle Valeriya Artist Gallery grounds. The pillars, bridges and stones feels welcoming to me.

Oil Pigs was collaboration between Gigmonger Stine and myself. We both had been talking of the gas prices and this build just evolved. We built some parts of an iron man. Then the Pig was my first real object build beyond a sculpty pillar. The man, the pigs and the oil became a message that needed to be expressed beyond a simple picture.

These builds awakened my virtual sculpting to a reality that I want to do more of it. I will be involved in many more creative expressions of my art here in SL. Building is now something I crave and it will be mixed with my artwork more and more.

I just tilt my head a little to the right and my mind goes into overdrive. Sometimes the screen is not big enough for what I see. But one day …. Castle Valeriya Artist Gallery will be an island of exciting realized visions of my tilted head … just you wait and see!

Cienega is not just a talented artist in Second Life® she is also an artist in real life. Cienega's real life artwork uses many mediums such as oils, acrylics, sculpting with metal and wood, soft leather and feather mixed with glass and her stained glass work. Cienega has only displayed a few of her real life artworks in Second Life® because she believes that the beauty of Second Life® should be celebrated in its environment without real life artworks being present and hanging around in an unnatural view. Cienega Soon has been selected as one of the artists for the real life exhibition Rinascimento Virtuale (Virtual Renaissance) which will open at the Museum of Natural History of Florence, Italy. October 21, 2008-January 7, 2009.

Her artistic talents are just as original as her name and anyone who knows of her gifted skill will tell you of her innate abilities. Some would say art like this is not something that one can learn, this is a talent that you must be born with in order to do it this well. Cienega has been called a "photographic lyricist" and she feels that art is alive everywhere she creates it and there is a need for her to sing with her hand and eyes. She states," I sit and paint my version of my photo, my hand interprets what my eye sees deep inside the shot. To me THIS is my ART and my HEART turned inside out, capturing the beauty of what has been created in this Virtual 3D World by its many talented gods ‘Their Creation’. What a wonderful talent Second Life® has assembled. It truly is worth capturing & hanging on a wall.”

LOVE, WAR & LOVE again

photo left to right: Demerick Creeley (inVd Editor in Chief), Trace17 Junkers (Tainted Boys owner), Adonis Lubitsch (Tainted Boys owner), Andreaus Beck and Jason Feingold (CHE Owner) & Ammon Pera (inV/inVd Editor and Chief).

LOVE, WAR & LOVE again

Over the past several weeks, you will have been aware of deep divisions between two of Second Life's biggest gay clubs. Just days after the biggest Club Merger in history, Club High Energy & Tainted Boys came to blows. Sometimes, mergers are not always the answer.

INV Daily is pleased to announce however, that the division is now finally over and from this point there will be unity. Adonis Lubitsch, Trace17 Junkers, Andreaus Beck and Jason Feingold all sat down together and agreed to make a truce and put any past animosity behind them. I might have had alittle to do with this and am very happy. inVd (Demerick and I) always remained neutral and we knew we would all come together eventually.

In a jointly agreed statement, the three released the following: "In the past we have allowed divisions to come between us and this has not been good for the gay community or its club scene. It's time to bring the gay community together for the benefit of everybody and to unify in one shared vision and goal and that is to make the gay club scene a happy and fun place for everybody. Never again, will we allow division or hostility to take over as it has done in the past. We are all on the same page, friends and respectful to one another. It's also our shared aim to make the gay club scene and gay community a unified and positive one"

INV Daily will continue to be the most fun on the fly blog that we have always been. Putting you first, fashion and fun is what we're about. Also be sure to check out Tainted Boys - at its new nightclub and mall. Tainted Boys is the place to be! and inVd is the place to be seen and read.

Living Lights for Neko

Animations Rising released a Neko Tail and Ears set at the request of many Neko fans. This set comes with both pieces which work in conjunction with the Living Lights sets and responds to the set HUDs. If you prefer, the set can be worn separately and still adjusted with any of the other HUDs. Like all other Living Light sets, the tail and ears can be customized by color, speed, intensity and other options. It's a must-have addition for those Neko clubbing nights.

Oct. inV birthdays/ Big spankings grins

The two signs for for October are Libra and Scorpio. The weight of the scales and the sting to follow.

LIBRA

Libra is the only inanimate sign of the zodiac, all the others representing either humans or animals. Many modern astrologers regard it as the most desirable of zodiacal types because it represents the zenith of the year, the high point of the seasons, when the harvest of all the hard work of the spring is reaped. There is a mellowness and sense of relaxation in the air as mankind enjoys the last of the summer sun and the fruits of his toil. Librans too are among the most civilized of the twelve zodiacal characters and are often good looking. They have elegance, charm and good taste, are naturally kind, very gentle, and lovers of beauty, harmony (both in music and social living) and the pleasures that these bring.

SCORPIO

Scorpios are the most intense, profound, powerful characters in the zodiac. Even when they appear self-controlled and calm there is a seething intensity of emotional energy under the placid exterior. They are like the volcano not far under the surface of a calm sea, it may burst into eruption at any moment. But those of us who are particularly perceptive will be aware of the harnessed aggression, the immense forcefulness, magnetic intensity, and often strangely hypnotic personality under the tranquil, but watchful composure of Scorpio. In conventional social gatherings they are pleasant to be with, thoughtful in conversation, dignified, and reserved, yet affable and courteous; they sometimes possess penetrating eyes which make their shyer companions feel naked and defenseless before them.

Attol "OZ" Outback Sim : UMMMM Has Hit Again !

Will Ummm Kazan ever get tired of building? Apparently not. He's done it again, producing a new sim inspired by the Australian Outback. I gather he got tired of seeing inaccurate builds representing his home country, so he decided to express himself in this theme and throw in his particular insight into his own country using his much acclaimed talent as a builder.

Sims are about simulating the look & feel of a world with all of its components: terrain, construction, sound and effects. Ummm is inspired by towns in the wide-open space of the Outback. Space. There's lots of it. from eroded hills to open desert and the intricate shoreline. The town itself gives you the feeling it's temporary, built with what could be found or made locally--wood, or what can be recycled: bricks, sandstone and galvanized roofing. You get the feeling of a turn of the century installation (20th) built maybe for miners extracting ore, where all the inhabitants arrived in a short time-span. You even expect to come across Crocodile Dundee or Midnight Oil, at any corner. This is their Australia and Ummm has depicted it with great mastery, talent, respect of the land, unobtrusive architecture and usage of local resources.

I spent some time watching all the domesticated animals (hearing the hens crow - or was it a cock?) and wildlife (cockatoos, dingos, rabbits & roos...) and the typical Aussie Outback vegetation, which is rare in SL; the use of shadow is to be seen. There are loads of places to visit in and outside the town: events and live groups will be held in the local concert hall. The mayor's house -I don't know who he is yet - will stage exhibitions and receptions. Or you can get your beachwear and head to the shores, where the mix of colors becomes that little bit more magical - there's a zen grotto (Ummm says this depicts the Asian influence in Australia), places to sit, relax, watch the dolphins, swim, surf, kayak or even scuba-dive. This sim is clearly thought out and designed for discovery, chance encounters, events, or just sheer isolation. Ummm has managed to provide all that with just 3750 prims, which really shows his architectural and building skills. And if by chance, there's a radio on, don't you just love that accent? I do.

The building is on-going, I don't think Ummm ever stops, always finding details to tune-up. The overall impression is very striking in its color, intelligent prim usage and coherent building. What it needs now is to be used, so get down there, look around or even rent a place in this secluded original setting--there won't be many opportunities open.

If you want a truly original Aussie Outback experience, this is it! A whisper of the Outback lands--earth, water, wind and fire, aboriginal dreaming, sounds of the night--Attol is all of these things and more. "Come," she whispers. "Be still. The outback awaits."

As Ummm himself would say, "Ridgi didge! Blue, she will be apples :)). " Ask him for the translation.

Not Your Usual Halloween Site

While searching Second Life for Halloween sites to share, I stumbled across this unique find. Stephanie Marquez offers a site that steps away from the expected focus on gore and startle effects, instead providing a refreshing retreat with a romantic vibe. Bring that special someone to dance in the gazebo beneath the trees, cuddle in various places or kiss under the stars. Bring some friends for some great photo ops, or bring the family for some autumn fun. Even if you find yourself exploring alone, you'll find something here worth seeing. Stephanie uses a variety of decorations and activities to make this a stop for everyone, especially those ready to escape the hectic ways of this holiday.

Samurai-in-the-Storm ~ Limited Edition Release by Eshi Otawa

Wednesday 15th October ~ 4:00 PM SLT

Eshi Otawara, the renown artist whose works have been exhibited both in RL and in SL, announces her latest wearable fashion: Samurai-in-the-Storm. This will be the last limited release dress to be created under the "Chambre du Chocolat" label. Future releases will become know as the Eshi Otawara collection. This metaversal beyond haute couture dress was one of her early prim pieces of clothing creations, but was never before released, being saved for just the right timing. The dress was inspired from one of her RL paintings, which she made as her response to the destruction of hurricane Rita in 2005. From her experiences comes the courage to inspire and adorn, to delight the senses and surprise the eye; from tragedy arises beauty. All of these things come together in the designs by Eshi Otawara.

The Samurai-in-the-Storm is a rendering of a samurai spirit, and envelops the wearer in both the strength of armour (represented by the top portion of the dress) and the power of nature, as seen in the waves rising from the lower part of the dress. Raindrops caught in the wind encircle the wearer, showing the fortitude of the samurai to overcome obstacles no matter the nature of them. There is both power and softness in the dress; more a fantastical wearable art piece than what is typically seen in SL as a dress with billowy prims floating all around. This dress exudes strength from vulnerability, and will be unmistakeable to the wearer as an Eshi Otawara Original.

Only 7 of these dresses will be created; one has already been spoken for, one will be set aside for a future auction, and the remaining 5 will be made available for purchase for L$25, 000.

Eshi's creations are mostly not possible to wear in real life, which coincides well with her involvement with the NPIRL group in SL. Her designs in SL are, however, wearable, thus creating fantastic artistical experiences along with their clothing both for the wearer and the observer. Eshi's connection to fashionable art is also well known for having recently collected L$460,000 in a charity action by the Designers in Seclusion team for Relay for Life for her first SL dress, the Fishook.

Octoberville Revisited

As we wait for Ammon's spider story, I thought I'd send a reminder that the PixelTrix Team's Octoberville is hopping with still a little over two weeks left to find the 100 items in the scavenger hunt, solve the SLeuth game and bob for unsavory apples. Learn the reason why the town is overrun by various beasts and ghouls, and discover the secrets behind Professor Dalton's madness as you uncover clues hidden around the sim. This is worth a Daily revisit because it's entertainment that will keep you up all night. Oh, and there are spiders here too...

The best time to beat the lag is early in the day, but it's worth fighting lag to experience the attraction.

PUNKIN PERVERSION PENETRATES PARADISE!!!

It has come to my attention, and caused deep consternation, that yet another SCANDAL is brewing in Second Life, this time involving, directly, the infamous DJ and Club Owner Adham DeCuir, of BLU Dancebar fame.

Some of you may know that recently, this individual added a "Pumpkin Patch" at the outskirts of his land, and has invited visitors to observe and enjoy the melons neatly cached within.

On Monday night, 10/6/2008, an "after hours" gathering was held among the pulchritudinous punkins, and this event, sprinkled liberally with plastic cups of various concoctions of dubious content and nature, resulted in an incident of debauchery unrivaled in Second Life, heretofore.

This malicious molester of melons, DJ Adham, has dragged the noble fruit of the ground-grown vine to the very depths of sin and self-abuse, as this photograph attests. I have it on good authority that in RL, he also has been known to abuse certain members of the cucumber and zucchini family, as well, and his activities are being reported to the Vegan Center for the Prevention of Vegetable Vicissitudes, forthwith!

Please, if you visit the Pumpkin Patch, treat these noble melons kindly, and walk with care among them, refraining from loud or boisterous behaviour until such time as they have fully recovered from Monday night's horrible example of Punkin Perversion.

To witness the aftermath of these unspeakable crimes, please visit the Blu Pumpkin Patch.

Octoberville - Master Kaos - Grand Opening at 5:00 PM SLT

Portrait of Professor Dalton, Octoberville's resident mad scientist and the reason for the odd happenings in the sleepy town (Portrait provided by Master Kaos).

Master Kaos of the Octoberville/PixelTrix group.

From left to right: Cherub Spectre, Master Kaos and Nathan Oddfellow of Octoberville (photos by Adian Brouwer).

Shortly after coming to Second Life in 2005, Master Kaos began a small build that grew into the most anticipated Halloween attraction on the grid. Together with his partner, Cherub Spectre and their business partner, Nathan Oddfellow, he created Octoberville. By incorporating the elements of a haunted house with an amazing story line and the interactivity of a scavenger hunt, the PixelTrix group continues to draw new visitors and engage past fans each year. I had the opportunity to speak with Master Kaos about the history of Octoberville, the Crowbar club and the trio's plans for this year's Halloween build.

inVogue: I'm very excited about Octoberville. When I started SL, this was one of the first places I explored.

Master Kaos: Oh really? It's the first place that I ever experimented building. We have built a pretty big following since it started. I get emails and threats daily about Octoberville. Friends warning if I don't get started and have it done they are gonna kick my butt. Jokingly of course, but there are some die-hard fans now.

inVogue: What inspired you to take on such a massive build?

Master Kaos: Well, at first it wasn't massive at all. It quickly became so, but I was very new to SL myself and Cherub and I had purchased a part of a sim. Inspiration came from my love of autumn and growing up on a farm in a small town with gorgeous forests and the local fall festivals. I just started collecting fall themed things, trees, etc from around SL and never really thought about doing much with it all. One day, boredom set in and I just started creating a very cozy, little forest very much like the one we are in now. Slowly my forest got bigger and I was adding little details throughout: pumpkins, graves, hidden things.

inVogue: Did you add Halloween items in 2005?

Master Kaos: Yes. People kept flying over and seeing the forest and dropping in and sitting with me. Cherub loved it and we started to spread out more, we bought a little more land and by October that year, we had worked together to build a small town, graveyard and a large winding haunted house, and we pulled all of it together with a story.

inVogue: Nice. Did you work together to create the story?

Master Kaos: Yes, we all pitched in our own ideas. Nathan Oddfellow is our third partner in Pixeltrix and he and Cherub added scripts and sounds and we came up with some pretty interesting ways to animate things with ghosts popping out, etc.

inVogue: Did PixelTrix come before or after the first Octoberville?

Master Kaos: PixelTrix actually came from that very first Octoberville. We realized very quickly that we worked well together and had something special. People just kept flooding our little plot. So we decided to see what else we could do and wanted to continue the Octoberville tradition. Cherub and Nathan are the masterminds behind the products of PixelTrix. They are amazing programmers. I just work here. lol. I'm the artist. But Octoberville really does come from my heart.

inVogue: It's wonderful to see people working so well together to make both a business and an attraction succeed. I attended both the 2006 and 2007 Octobervilles and saw a huge difference in the hunts. How much of a role do Second Life improvements play in hunt improvements?

Master Kaos: Well the hunts came out of thinking that we wanted people to really go around and explore the place--to see all the details tucked away. SL does have its limitations and last year’s hunt was very ambitious. It did raise some problems last year, but I think we handled them pretty well and everyone seemed to enjoy it, some multiple times.

inVogue: Do you intend to play off any of the Windlight features this year?

Master Kaos: That would be ideal. There are some really cool effects I would like to include in Octoberville this year, but we are going to have to test and see what is possible. We have to be careful with what we do because of the crowds we get at one time. We got filled up very quickly last year.

inVogue: I'm sure you intend to have the Crowbar Club in full force again this year. Do you expect to have as good of a turnout as last year?

Master Kaos: Oh yes. The Crowbar itself became very popular on its own. I opened it up quite a few months this year whenever I had the time. Anytime the word gets out that Crowbar is open, many people show up.

inVogue: Octoberville is always an intense build with a strong storyline. How much time goes into planning and building the site?

Master Kaos: You want the truth or should I tell you we spend months and months planning it? Honestly, I love to improvise. Some of the programming starts a bit early. So that we can test hunts, etc to make sure they are gonna work correctly. Building wise, I just look at the blank canvas each year and go to work. I always throw in my favorite things that I've come to love over the years--like hanging up your favorite Christmas ornaments that you've had since you were a child.

inVogue: The mystery is a big hit. And exploring and finding new surprises is what draws me to the attraction.

Master Kaos: Maybe Octoberville itself is just another mad experiment created by Professor Dalton, our resident insane scientist. He is the reason for the madness that has occurred in this little town. Murders, experiments, explosions, monsters, etc. Most of those bloody trails lead up to Dalton's residence, which he has rebuilt many times. Roleplay here is a big part of the fun and we encourage everyone to come be a part of it and add to the story.

inVogue: Will it be detective roleplay again this year or are you using a different role?

Master Kaos: We really incorporated the scavenger hunt into the story last year. I don't really want to give too much away, but we have been working on something a bit different this year that we hope will be a lot of fun. I would say yes, there is a detective aspect to it.

inVogue: The hunts are a combination of puzzles and mazes in a macabre setting. How do people respond to the variety of challenges and fear factors?

Master Kaos: We have literally scared the BLEEP out of people in past years in the haunted house. With the introduction of voice chat to the game, I have nearly fallen out of my chair laughing while listening to people screaming or jumping, and most everyone I've talked to loved the challenge of the hunt. I've had people curse us for keeping them up for days at a time trying to find the last couple items. We like to make some of them especially difficult for the die-hards who can't go on living until they find every single clue. We also make it mean something by recognizing people who found all the items, who participated and roleplayed. We threw a huge private party last year for Octoberville elite, a group you could only get in by achieving certain goals in Octoberville.

inVogue: Roleplaying really makes the fun and mystery more complete. Do you have any advice for those who have never roleplayed before?

Master Kaos: Hmmm...well, here it is very open. We invite people to be creative and just enjoy themselves. Become a part of what you see around you. Get in a mind-set and really become a character. Last year we had people just playing citizens of the town, wandering around, lying in the houses. We had ghosts, skeletons, etc in our graveyard played by real people. It's always fun to see what people will do here.

inVogue: Is there anything else you wanted to add about Octoberville?

Master Kaos: We just really hope everyone comes out and enjoys it. We put a lot of love in to it and it’s a completely free attraction. If I had any advice for enjoying Octoberville it would be to always make sure it’s set to darkness outside and to use your camera wisely.

Octoberville is a must-see attraction for the Halloween season and is holding a Grand Opening tomorrow evening. It's more than a build, it's a fully interactive experience with a running plot that will get you hooked. Whether you spend day and night searching for all the items and solving the mystery or not, you'll be glad you took the time to explore. The PixelTrix team takes Halloween to a new level with this annual attraction.

Don't Feed the Pigs

Dont Feed the Pigs!

Do we really need Oil for all our fuel and energy needs?

Electricity is for collecting, Wind can be a motor driver. Water loves to run down hill and pass any opening with speed, its also powerful when its all steamed up. How is it that we still rely on crude for our energy? ummm its GREED, its driven by a greater energy than its self ... fuckin money pigs.

Their greed runs deep, deep into our lives. Oil spills/dumps, to bring up prices also cause side effects that linger. Death to our ecosystem. Here is just one testament of its crude cut into life. Prince William Sound

So how do we turn it all around? BE INFORMED! MAKE PERSONAL CHANGES! yeah and DON'T BELIEVE THE CRAP THAT WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF ELECTRICITY. Its the company that we personally buy our electricity from .... they aren't paying their bill and the provider is shutting them off. Its manipulation, gouging and greed. Electricity is a natural phenomenon just waiting to be collected. But its the money pigs in between that makes its availability a crisis.

Some energy's stated availability is built on word of mouth. Its momentum, greed.

If we start a rumor that there's a toilet paper crisis? Ahh ... come on you know what will happen to the supply. But will all those, hording the TP, actually go find out if we really do have a shortage? NO. Prices go up because the sellers see a great way of Gouging the fearful public and becoming richer, and the fearful public hover over their bathroom doors and count the squares being used.

Water, Steam, WIND and the most powerful of all our resource's, the SUN with our solar gathering genius. What the hell is going on here? Is it the big money guys stopping the change?

Don't Feed The Oil Pig any longer. Choose alternative ways of energy. Look into solar, find out if it can be used in your personal life. Funding and supporting alternative energy sources can and will make a difference in the future, but we need to investigate and start it at our level and talk about it everyday.

Make a difference Say Something to Someone! Don't just stand there by the bathroom door and count your stack of toilet paper rolls in fear. SEARCH OUT ALTERNATIVE WAYS TO WIPE OUR ASS, MAKE THE PRICES OF THE TP GO DOWN BY USING SOMETHING ELSE! Because right now the pigs are stickin it in our ass. Wake UP!

Second Life's Burning Life Opens September 27th thru October 5th 2008
There you will see our statement in sculpture form. Go See! Take with you a thought. Make Changes in your personal life.
Think Differently. Burning Life (Port Zero) Dont Feed The Pigs!

inV Tips Its Hat to Frolic Mills' Casablanca Boulevard

On September 13th at exactly 11am SLT, Frolic Mills officially opened to the public his latest addition to the high end luxury mall segment of the BEST OF SL group of companies, the Casablanca Boulevard. The grand opening ceremonies came in the form of a black-tie gala party of which numerous designers, members of the SL press, and friends were in attendance.

The Casablanca Boulevard was designed by Patch Thibaud, who had recently brought into Second Life the fabulous Best Of SL Boulevard. With the unveiling of his latest work of art in the form of the Casablanca Boulevard, he has raised the bar yet another notch higher. What will be up Patch's sleeve next? We shall have to wait to discover for ourselves once work begins on the 5 star Casablanca Suites & Hotel, to be erected on the adjoining Sim.

But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let's get back to our main topic: The Casablanca Boulevard, located on a Sim to the South of the Best Of SL Boulevard. Not a mere extension of the original mall, this new area has a completely different ambiance, airy and spacious would aptly describe the architecture, with whimsical bits added as part of the decor such as the rendition of 3 male 'newbie' avatars in the popular AFK poses (it's not just whimsical, it's hilarious! You almost want to go over and heckle them for camping at the Boulevard).

At this splendid new locale, as one would expect, top designers populate the stores just as they had at the Best Of SL Boulevard. The congregation of so many beautiful items for sale in one place just takes the frustration out of everyone's favorite pastime of shopping.

The gala opening party was quite an impressive shindig, with entertainment provided for by Eris Alexandre of Trauma in the guises of Angelijade Writer and Jonas Lunasea as live performers. The VIP guests included a list of who's who in the Second Life community.

Looli Hoffman, the owner of Club XTC was there; as was Scope Cleaver, Guy Winkler, the CEO of Metasaver. Angel Tzara of Torridaffair, Samsara Nishi of Sams Secret Botique, Cerra Denja of Denja Visual Arts, Tjake Kearny of Jewelry by Jake together with his lovely partner Sommes Discovolante, Elysium Eilde of Second Look Studio, Jackson Vantelli of Quarters, Katlaya Greggan of Beauty Design and Fashion, Mimi Juneau of Mimi's Choice, Nadja Baxter, Indyra Seigo of Indyra Originals, Victoriav and Vasgez McMillan of VickyV, Yelmer Pfeffer of Alphamale, Mariska Simons of Blacklace, Sysy Chapman of Sysy's, Milla Micinaga of .MichaMi., Dancer Dallagio representing Stilleto Moody Shoes, Harper Beresford of House of Rfyre, Antonia Mara of Artill Eri, Mrohs Baxton of Edge Desgins, and Artworld Market of SLART.

Other beautiful people that were there included a few of the Miss SL Universe finalists: Barbarella Fousing and Patking Miles. Top model Pup Witherspoon was also there.

Numerous members of press organizations in and around Second Life were also on hand to experience the event.

Shopping in style just became a reality in Second Life, and my guess is that CASABLANCA BOULEVARD is here to stay!

inV Daily Interview with DJ Superstar Contest Winner: Queen Edman

INV Daily Interview with DJ Superstar Contest Winner: Queen Edman
Conducted by: Jason Feingold

Thursday September 25

Jason Feingold: Hi Queen, thanks for sitting down with me today and congratulations on winning the Search for a DJ Superstar Contest this past Sunday. How did it feel to be declared the winner?
Queen Edman: Feels great.
Jason Feingold: It actually came really close between you and Lillandra Lancaster and you both came to a dead heat on the scores, which resulted in all 3 Judges having to individually choose a winner. What was going through your mind as you were waiting for all 3 Judges to choose a name?
Queen Edman: I was sweatin it for a while. What was going thru my mind? I need this win. lol
Jason Feingold: When you were both standing there facing the Judges at that final critical moment, did you think your name was gonna be called our or did you think, "nah, this girl's gonna get it?"
Queen Edman: Hard to say. I had a feeling it was going to be my named called but I was yelling at the judges in RL.
Jason Feingold: I think I could practically hear you. You both had your eyes fixed on me. It wasn't nice being Simon Cowel,l I can assure you. LOL. There were 6 DJ’s performing in the contest in total. I saw that you managed to stick around during most of the event. What did you think of the other DJ talent who also competed?
Queen Edman: You know, all 6 DJs are very good there, including myself.
Jason Feingold: Did any of the others stand out in your eyes?
Queen Edman: Yes and no. See I'm more a club DJ and some of the DJs in the competition are heavy metal DJs so the one I tied with is an awesome DJ but she's different that I am so were kinda equal in our own rights.
Jason Feingold: True, I think some of the DJ's entering perhaps didn't realize that the crowd wasn't largely used to some of the metal music a couple of the DJ's played, but it was a contest open to any genre of music. We had a huge explosive crowd all night, over 50 people and most stayed pretty much the entire duration. How did it feel playing to such a huge and vibrant crowd at Club High Energy?
Queen Edman: The crowd was great. I love to play to a large crowd
Jason Feingold: did you feel their energy? I know some DJ's prefer more personal smaller crowds and others prefer playing to a bigger crowd because they get a buzz from it. So playing to bigger crowds is more your preference?
Queen Edman: There was more energy there as opposed to say like 10 in the club. I'm used to playing to all size crowds. I've been working for Ironworks over a year and some days we get packed and some not.
Jason Feingold: What motivates you as a DJ and what gives you the biggest satisfaction from DJing in Second Life?
Queen Edman: DJ'n for me is like a high. I enjoy making others happy. Every time I hear someone yell, "I love this tune" I get blown away because I've done my job.
Jason Feingold: What would you say to anybody out there thinking of starting out DJing in Second Life? Would you recommend it and what advice would you potentially offer to them?
Queen Edman: Hate to say it this way but it takes skill to be a DJ anyone can play music but if u want to DJ then know something about what your doing.
Jason Feingold: If somebody new did want to learn the ropes, what would you suggest in order to help them learn the fundamentals?
Queen Edman: Really, go listen to other DJs first. I still do that.
Jason Feingold: What would you describe as your favorite genre of music that you typically like to play during your sets?
Queen Edman: I spin country and rock also but when I'm in the club, I love music with a good beat and music that people can relate too. If that means playing bubblegum pop club tune then I will. So many times, I've gone into RL clubs and never heard a single song I knew. I don't want to fall into that.
Jason Feingold: Well the music you opted for this past Sunday certainly did pay off. It was a lot of fun. The crowd and all 3 Judges including myself really got into your set
Jason Feingold: You have your first DJ set at Club High Energy this Friday Night as the DJ Superstar Contest Winner. What are your thoughts of Club High Energy and are you excited to play there?
Queen Edman: I'm very excited to play there. I hope to blow them away like I did in the contest.
Jason Feingold: On behalf of inV Daily, it has been a pleasure conducting this interview with you Queen Edman. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions today.
Queen Edman: umm just one more thing lol. I promised InsyX Piranha to give him a shout out. He's been like a brother to me ever since I started in the old Ironworks.
Jason Feingold: We're still trying to schedule that guy to work for us, so there's another plug! Next one is 1000 lindens please. LOL

Beauty is in the Eye of the Culture

Second Life gives us the opportunity to be super skinny with perfect hair and buns of steel, yet the avatars we guide around the grid are merely representations of what we perceive to be beautiful. Impressione's World Beauty Event on Saturday September 27th, an event running concurrent with Milan's Fashion Week, seeks to draw attention to cultural differences in what is seen as beautiful. The fashion show, starting at 12:00 PM SLT, will feature both male and female models in every shape and skin color to demonstrate cultural approaches to attractiveness.

The event was created to raise funds for NEDA, the National Eating Disorders Association. While eating disorders seem to be a more pressing concern for female's and inV tends to have a strong male readership, the fact remains that males are impacted by eating disorders as well. Whether a male is suffering from an eating disorder himself or has a friend or loved one facing the issue, NEDA can be a valuable resource.

And, as we represent ourselves with perfect avs, we can find ourselves feeling sub-par in RL. Genna Gray, who approached me with this event, said, "I do want to make a point of saying that what is beautiful comes in many forms, and it's just important to remember that in Second Life, where you can be anyone or anything, that you should feel comfortable about who you are in either world. It's about appreciating diversity and self acceptance and providing information on healthy lifestyles for the mind and body."

This is an essential event for both men and women of all shapes and ethnicities. In a world where it is so easy to blend in and have that perfect body we've always wanted in reality, real importance comes from having a strong self-esteem and value system. Take care of yourself.

Search for a DJ Superstar

Photos by Eddi Haskell

We searched for a DJ Superstar on September 21st with a panel of 3 judges (Eddi Abdul or Eddi Haskell, Ammon Cowell and Jason Jackson) and 6 wonderful DJs. The inV Daily sponsored event allowed each DJ to show their amazing talent for 45 minutes, followed by (very vanilla, as Ammon Cowell's brand of scoring was really mild--bad Ammon) American Idol comments before the next contestant took the stream.

The evening ended with judge technical issues and me reluctantly filling in with his comments. Although the contest should've ended with the last scoring we ended up with a tie between Queen Edman and and Lillandra Lancaster. The judges voted for their favorites among the two with the first two judges casting a vote for each and adding to the suspense of the moment. Jason Jackson (High Energy Owner, Jason Feingold) was stuck with the stressful decision of choosing the DJ Superstar. After a good five minutes of stalling, Jackson declared that the DJ Superstar was Queen Edman and the High Energy Queen was Lillandra Lancaster. Queen Edman won $5000L, superstardom and guaranteed shifts at the rocking High Energy. Watch for an upcoming interview here with him.

Kudos to all DJs who performed at the event. The turnout was amazing and all contestants kept the club rocking.

You are what you eat Exhibit

Photo from Antoine Lancaster "Eggs" http://web.me.com/asimkine/You_are_what_you_eat/Bienvenue.html

This exhibit is very fun. Well, at least it was for me when Jade and I went to take a look. Antoine Lancaster documented by photo everything he ate for an entire year. In Second Life, the pieces are displayed by curator, Arkady Shatzkin, who displays the works in the a circular museum. Most of the photographs were taken in Paris, but several were taken on trains or planes during Antoine's business trips.

The plates of food are beautifully displayed and I was thinking the entire time how messy my plates of food usually look. The next thing that came into my mind was how much passes out of your body. Maybe this will be his next exhibit. God, let's hope not anyway. When you tp in you'll be on the top floor and you'll follow your way done the stairs by passing entrees after entrees: 1500 in total. It's pretty amazing to see what a single human being eats a year. I mentioned to Jade the artist must not eat many snacks. I didn't see many of those. Go have a look and judge for yourself.
