NATALIE NIVEN Insanity/ we made our point and any more comments will not be published

**WE ARE NOT PUBLISHING ANYMORE COMMENTS ON THIS POST**
We suggest if Natalie Niven IM's any VIP group memebrs to just ignore her and file with the Lindens. She is a prime example of pathetic.

And there it goes again, a dying blog; a blogger in great need of a life of her own; and a bunch of fictitious stories to get some attention. Yet, nothing more than another vain attempt at slandering and libeling Ammon. Niven's obsession with my other half will never cease to amaze me, actually kind of scary; is she like in love with my partner? :O

It all makes me wonder how low one would go for some attention and hits. Getting so far as to fabricate from nil new stories, filling them with lies and presenting them as facts, with along the way slandering and libeling another resident shows not only how desperate you must be for attention, but also how insane you must be.

And she proclaims herself to be a reporter … well definitely one with extremely little ethics. Some could argue that it is only for fun; nevertheless there is a very fine line between fun gossips and falsely accusing people; while offering others a forum to defame for giggles.

What's even sadder is the horde of sheep having a hard time distinguishing facts from fiction simply believing them or adding to the lies. Is SL really full of that many naïve people? Are those players really that candid? Are they just plain stupid? Or is it that they are so pathetically bored in both their lives that it is a living need to create drama and feed it?

Whatever it is, I just love it simply include in your post words such as "I know"; "I heard"; "a friend (could also be: the friend of a friend who's a friend of that friend) told me" or "After a bit of research (for all I know the research in question could be a quicky in the bathroom; coming from her I wouldn't be too surprised)" without anything tangible and those people will take your words for granted and simply believe what you say.

At the end of the day she should just face it, she's merely proving a known fact, without the name "Ammon Pera" her blog is as good as dead; and since she can't get anything genuine from him she got to the point of making up new "stories".

I feel sorry for her and her followers; it must be difficult living two useless lives and feeling the need to live through someone else. I barely find time in my first life to still have my daily dose of fun in SL; and here they are, having way too much time on their hands and feeling the need to create drama and bring it on others. We very well know that these detractor(s) will, unfortunately, carry on those false accusations (our new game is to try and figure out what next she will fabricate.) I could only advise them to try getting a third life or simply try doing something constructive out of their already existing lives.

In conclusion I will simply quote her: "I can only describe [her blog's] antics and name dropping as rather pathetic. To [write so much lies], in such a short time, about totally random silly stuff, to stir up publicity makes you seem rather insane." Yes, very surprising, wise words coming out from her; too bad she isn't as wise as her words; I can only hope she will follow them one day.

We had over 400 comments in total but we decided some shouldn't be published for reasons we felt overstepped the boundaries and to protect Natalie's rl info. After 2 short days and over 400 comments the entire staff of inV gave our own personal comments to put this to close.

White Party tonight

< DJ Shep will take to the decks on Saturday at 7pm sl time to host a huge White Party with a Best in White Contest and 1000 Lindens will be up for grabs. Fridays and Saturday’s will be the two key nights at the brand new exciting club: Friday’s with DJ Jason and Saturday’s with DJ Shep. Both nights will have regular themed events and contests with lots of hot sexy High Energy Dance Boys and club hosts to keep you entertained and partying through the night.

The new Club High Energy Manager, Jason Feingold, shared what the new club was all about. “Well, we’re all about creating a very welcoming and fun atmosphere to our guests. The club under its old management needed a new ethos of making everybody welcome. We’re not about having cliques. We want to be the number one destination on the gay scene’s weekend calendar in SL and we will pull out all stops to make that happen. I’m confident it can be done and am totally sure that everybody is gonna love the new club with me and DJ Shep at the helms."

Club High Energy has high ambitions in Second Life and seems to have assembled a team necessary to take it to those heights. With the proprietor Eddi Haskell, overlooking the smooth running of operations, Jason Feingold adding his creative energy to plans at the club as Manager and a whole new set of hosts such as Danr Raymaker and Jaho Yalin and new dancers taking center stage at the club, Club High Energy has its sights set high. We all like to let our hair down at the weekends and what better place than a club that has unlimited potential and aspiration than Cub High Energy.

Team inV is going to be there to get the lowdown on the club’s first opening night and we hope you all join us too for what promises to be an off the page party! We’ve also learned about some very exciting events that the club has lined up in the coming weeks and we’re very excited about the prospects of Club High Energy. Join us and everybody else this Friday Night, August 15 for what’s gearing up to be the summer’s hottest club opening, get ready for some HIGH ENERGY!!!

DJ Jason Feingold back with another Top 5

This is DJ Jason Feingold back with another Top 5 Music Picks for the INV Daily so let’s waste no time and take a look at this week’s top 5:

1) Cascada – What Do You Want From Me (Alex K remix) --- I am one of Cascada’s biggest fans and they’ve proved that they are the Kings and Queens of dance and club anthems. Cascada goes from strength to strength in her latest high adrenaline chart topper and be sure to check out the Alex K remix, which blows away the original. Cacada is this week’s number 1 and deservedly so, this is an absolute must track for any dedicated DJ to have in their collection.

2) Darren Styles with Ultrabeat – Paradise & Dreams --- Darren Styles makes it into the Top 5 for a second week running with Paradise & Dreams. This track is taken from Style’s new skydiving album and is High Energy trance all the way. Styles and Ultrabeat prove that they are the perfect partnership each time they team up with Paradise & Dreams proving why Darren Styles really is the King of Hardcore in clubland.

3) Jonas Brothers – I Wan’na Be Like You --- This fun song has made it into the Top 5 because its been making the rounds in several of the gay clubs that have all hosted Jungle Parties within the past week. The song’s taken from the Jungle Book, but the 3 Jonas Brothers have made this song totally cool, edgy and surprizingly fit for purpose in clubland and how can I not mention how cute the Jonas Boys all happen to be!

4) Usher – Love in this Club (remix ft. TI & Young Jeezy) --- I’ve never been a fan of playing much of Usher’s music in my sets, but this is one track by Usher that bulldozes its way into my playlist frequently. Usher creates lots of sexual heat in this track, which is perfect when you wanna get down and dirty with your other half (or your secret love) on the dancefloor with the Club remix sounding more upbeat and quirky than its original.

5) Enrique Inglesias – Push ft Lil Wayne --- Enrique makes it into the Top 5 this week with his latest track featuring Lil Wayne. It’s different to his usual music, but it’s really great on the instrumentals and although it has a slightly slower tempo than most of the music I personally opt for in my own sets, this one does have a suitable place when you’re winding down your set and wanna give your clubbers some chance to let off some steam and lust on the dancefloor. Push is a hot beat with the incredibly sexy Enrique Inglesias proving he still has plenty of shelf life yet and the music video to this track is also worth checking out too.

That’s it from me this week, I’ll be back next week with another Top 5 and if you wanna hear this week’s top 5 tonight, then I’ll be playing all 5 during my set tonight at the launch of Club High Energy (formerly Jake’s Club) later tonight!

why we retracted the "Hey Buddy" post

We are pulling the post on the Daily about virtual scams people use to scam money. After seeing the comments and how it got too personal we thought it best to retract the post. The withdrawal of the post is primarily to keep the Daily professional and due to deep feelings regarding the issue it was impossible to keep comments within the Daily's guidelines. inV suggests with anyone asking for large amounts of your money in SL to give them advice not money. Even if they say it's to feed their kids. Giving these professional scammers money only enhances the fraud rate in sl. Thank you for your understanding.

When do milk jugs become barrels in sl or rl?

Throughout history the breast has been a symbol of life, of motherhood, of femininity and of course of college co-eds who had one too many coronas during spring break in Florida. In RL it seems this grand symbol has become little more than something for a man to rub his face in and blow his lips like a blathering idiot. And along with the fall of Rome, so too the mighty breast has taken a dive as women seek to inflate their value by hedging their bets on the saline market.

Don't get me wrong I have a few shares in that market and was happy to take them out for spin when I got pulled over a few weeks ago by this charming lesbian police officer. Thanks heaven for microfabrics and nipple erections. In SL, breast augmentation is far simpler and less painful endeavor. As a result the extremes are no less drastic in our digital world. But finding the above photos made me wonder..when do milk jugs become barrels and what do guys really like (of course for those that do in the first place. lol.)?

Copycats/inV gives a thumbs down to Spirit dancebar

Most good SL builders refuse to copy another design, and some refrain from copying even a tiny part of another building. It's a part of the architect's moral code in world and it benefits us by providing a unique look to each sim we visit. Unfortunately, morality isn't a part of everyone's drive and copycat builds do exist. Yet, what if it's not just a build, but an entire club, that is duplicated? Last night's opening of Spirit at Gay Village introduced a club that is so obviously replicating Blu in Boystown that inV found it essential to share the lack of ethics.

Spirit, owned by two current Boystown residents, bears such a striking resemblance to Blu that it's impossible to deny that this was a blatant theft of logo design, building and club concept. As the picture above shows, Spirit even went so far as to create shirts exactly like those worn by the Blu Boys with the only difference being the Spirit logo and color. The logos are also so similar that Spirit seems linked to Blu.

Whether Spirit is trying to play off Blu's success, recreating what has worked with another club or based on even worse motives, we may never know. However, when copying occurs it usually is testimony to the lack of creativity on the copycat's behalf. As Aribella Dinzeo said, "Oh, well, I don't think they are the same, Spirit is not executed well.. Blu on the other hand is amazing, reminds me of a club irl, in Vegas!"

Not only have Spirit's owners crossed an ethical line, they did it poorly. As patrons of such establishments, we need to consider how early morals will impact the venues we frequent in the future. Is it better to attend a club that began with creativity and a unique approach or to spend our time and Lindens at a club that is simply a subpar recreation of a quality club?

What's My Alternative ?

Adian's Alt

Alternative Music, Alternative Lifestyles and Alternative Avatars…

I confess: I have an Alt, another account on Second Life with a different name and a different avatar. He’s like my older brother, clueless: he can’t dance, he’s shy with girls and insists on lecturing me every chance he gets. If he didn’t pay my Tier Fee, give me an allowance and maybe have a point about my late nights, I’d toss him in a prim-wood box and delete the Landmark.

Additional accounts are easy to get in Second Life (free or 9.95US$ depending on how many you already have) and with a new skin, shape and a minimal wardrobe you can start fresh in a second, third or even tenth Second Life. But try choosing a better name than Joe1234.

Alts are created for many different reasons. In general I think they are viewed with suspicion and thought to belong to griefers, philandering lovers, spies and blackmailing criminals trying to cloak their identity.

However there are other reasons for having an Alt:
  • Creators, educators and business reps can enjoy some playtime.
  • L$ can be stored in an Alt’s Bank Account reducing the risk of losses.
  • Inventory can be backed up if the items are Transferable.
  • Role-players can choose names appropriate for each RP Community.
  • Ex-partners, stalkers and (___) can be avoided.
  • Photographers can use their alts as additional models.
  • Neko writers can investigate Gorean cities without fear of enslavement.
Snap! A spying griefer Alt is blackmailing me and I think it’s my older brother.
I’m rezzing the prim-wood box.

What are your thoughts on Alts? What is your reason for having one?

The Golden Fleece Jewelry

Jewelry creation isn't easy. Manipulation of tiny prims requires infinite patience. However, those who do take on the challenge can bring the perfect accessories to our SL fashions. The Golden Fleece demonstrates quality in a field where men's designs can be lacking and offers a unique approach to standard jewelry.

The Golden Fleece owner, Anykey Munster, has only been designing jewelry for about two months, but his creations are among the best men's pieces in SL. Demos are available for each style. The items are no mod, but Anykey will adjust to fit your shape if necessary. Future plans for the jewelry may include a script to make personal modification simple.

Although young, The Golden Fleece is already making waves. This is one company that could easily grow into one of SL's greatest men's jewelry stores. Check it out now and be sure to watch for new items.

Fun with Stereotypes?

We know the model stereotypes in RL: women and men plagued with addiction and eating disorders in their efforts to maintain the perfect bodies required by their careers. Second Life spares models such damaging habits with the ease and painlessness of plastic surgery (we all jumped on that bandwagon in order to escape our horrendous newbie forms), low maintenence hairstyles (even when they look like we spent all morning getting each hair perfect) and the fact that in world models don't have the stressful celebrity status of their RL counterparts. Still, stereotypes may enter into many aspects of Second Life including our choice of employment, styles of entertainment and appearance (yes, I do play on the dumb blonde stereotype often).
What stereotypes have you seen in-world and how harmful are they to your Second Life experience?

Second Life Currency's Official Look

We spend them every day, but have you ever wondered what a Linden would look like if it were actual, tangible money? The above graphic from Linden Labs demonstrates the official conception of the Linden Dollar. With a bling Second Life hand and diamonds on the L$, it would probably be much more expensive to create this conception in a real world economy, but the design is attractive and Second Life spares us the need for physical money. The joy of a virtual world includes the fact that aesthetics can be included in areas where reality would make such imagination unfeasable.

Perhaps Linden Labs should create RL versions of these for sale as collectibles. Properly marketed, they could draw in more money for the company that gives our avatars life. And who wouldn't want a nice, blingy Linden paperweight?

inV daily’s weekly top 5 music selection in sl clubs w/ DJ Jason Feingold

inV daily’s Weekly Top 5
w/ DJ Jason Feingold
Friday, August 8

Hey guys, this is DJ Jason penning my new weekly inV daily Top 5 music picks. Each Friday, I will be covering the hottest tracks making the rounds at the clubs and also those most frequently requested. Let’s kick off with this week’s Top 5 Picks:

1) Katy Perry – I Kissed a Girl (Jason Nevins Remix) --- This week’s top pick is undoubtedly one of the biggest smash hits of the summer and is totally packed with lots of attitude. The song’s caused a lot of controversy in its “perceived promotion of being gay,” but bring it on cos we love it and make sure you check out the Jason Nevins remix of the track, which knocks the socks of the original version.

2) N-Force VS Darren Styles – Right By Your Side (Ultrabeat Remix) --- I’m a massive fan of the UK’s hardcore DJ, Darren Styles and this Ultrabeat remix of the awesome combination of Styles and N-Force blows the roof off all the other different remixes on this track. This track always brings everybody to the dancefloor and is pure high adrenaline, blood thumping every step of the way!

3) Cute is What We Aim For – Practise Makes Perfect --- The troubled Buffalo, New York band made their return to earlier this year with this very impressive hit, powerful on the vocals and hell you gotta admit these guys ooze sex on legs. A cool laid back song that’s incredibly catchy the more you listen to it. Definitely a group worth drooling other and a really great track!

4) The Klaxons – Gravitys Rainbow (Van She Tech Remix) --- You may have heard this one making the rounds in a funky little shake your hips klaxon gesture in Second Life. It’s taken from the Van She Tech remix of Gravitys Rainbow and is one of those tracks where the remix far outshines the original. Definitely a great track for a DJ to kickstart a party and set the right tone for clubbers to hit the dancefloor!

5) Armand Van Helden – I Want Your Soul (Club Remix) --- Last year’s very popular “I Want Your Soul” is still hitting the airwaves at many of the clubs in SL with this faster energized club remix of Helden’s red hot track. The club remix is more pulsating than the original and is always a really great track to keep the clubbers continuing to shake it and boogie all night long!

I’ll be back next week with another Top 5 and until then, PARTY ON!

Happy Birthday Jake

Once again, Jake's Club took over the SL nightlife and inV was there to help celebrate the birthday of JakeC Hotshot. Those who gathered on Nasturtium Island for the festivities danced and chatted amid a plethora of balloons, confetti and poofers. DJ Muhu Janus entertained the crowd with a great set. As always, the party rocked the grid.

inV staff would like to take this opportunity to wish Jake a very happy birthday.

Get pumped this Saturday

GET PUMPED!!! This Saturday the daily has some very fun things planned for our Vips. We will be firing off some cash and questions inworld in the Vip group. All questions will be taken from the daily and the first IM will win. enjoy

If your not in the inV group inworld your going to be missing out on a lot of fun. IM Ammon Pera for details.

What career in SL interests you the most?

Second Life is a chance to explore ourselves and step outside the boundaries of RL. We can't fly or teleport in RL. We can't grow tails. Much of our RL is restricted by our chosen careers, but Second Life gives us freedom to identify and pursue interests--something that, many times, would require several years of college, seeking a new degree, to do in RL.

While some people do choose to bring their real life careers to SL, we rarely find someone who makes body shapes in RL, or someone who creates eyes (although a plastic surgeon and contact lens manufacturer may fall into these categories). Many DJs are exclusively SL DJs, photographers grow from the ease of taking a snapshot and knowledge of Photoshop despite having little photography experience in RL and clothing designers are more likely to be RL graphic designers than someone who creates RL fashions for a living. The joy of SL is in our freedom to explore all levels of our personalities and expand our skills and talents. Besides, who wants to log into SL and work doing what they've been doing at the office all day?

As for me, I actually am not into fashion or publishing in RL. But I can say openly I have the best magazine with the most coverage for any advertiser than any other hands down. I also have always played with integrity and will continue to do so while some I know do not. inV does not support these people or businesses in anyway and they are never welcome to anything inV related period. I also believe if you choose to work for anyone in sl you should be paid. SL is for everyone and is supposed to be fun. SL is about learning to take your interests and talents in RL and expand them in a new and exciting world. It's all about trying new things and exploring ourselves and each other in ways we perhaps never could in RL. How have you turned your RL skills into an SL career? Or what career in SL interests you the most?

Are you your own twin?

Second Life provides the opportunity to challenge the identities we carry in RL. Avatar creation is the first experience we have with portraying ourselves in the virtual world. For some, this means changing everything--hair, height, eyes--and experiencing life as the person they've always wanted to be. Others choose to demonstrate their real selves (minus a few imperfections) through recreation of their likenesses in Second Life.

How much does the RL you look like the SL you? Seeing this picture made me wonder about the approaches people take when designing their av's. Is SL a reflection of your physical self or a digital makeover? In the end, even the most gorgeous avatar loses it's charm if the person behind the wheel has a rotten personality. Perhaps it just boils down to the Second Life expectations you hold for yourself and others. If you would consider taking something RL, would a more accurate avatar be the better route to go or do you just accept that the sexy guy or girl you cyber with could be a horse in real life?

A Kind Gesture...

[◕◕Adian ♡] appears in chat where I'm dancing and a cute voice giggles out my name. Suddenly chat is full of names and the same cute voice echoes across the dance floor. It is the voice of polomi Oh, creator of Nickname Gestures and owner of OSU. I thought these were a lot of fun and great gifts for friends. Drop polomi a Notecard with the names you want (the 4th one is free) and you will receive your personalized gestures within 48 hours. Considering they are custom, they are a steal at 250L$. Be sure to check out OSU and pick up the generous freebie packs. The Gestures are Copy, Modify and Transfer.

I love Gestures! There are so many to choose from and they are also very easy to create. They combine text, sound and animation in combinations limited only by your imagination. Like hair, skin and clothes, they can reflect your AV’s personality in a positive way if you choose and use them wisely.

[Adian rolls on his back in anticipation of having his tummy rubbed - purrs] is a signature gesture. It is cute, funny and usually gets a fun reaction. But not if I play it during wedding vows or repeat it 10 times and interrupt all public chat. Gestures add to the excitement in clubs when Hoos!! roll out for a favorite song or Howling Wolves flash by the screen. But there is a saturation point where it is no longer funny and eventually annoying. We have all kinds of resources available to us to enhance our virtual experience. The art is in knowing how and when to use them.

Globe Trotters

We've heard the stories: married men with wives in towns across the country who use business as an excuse for their absences from each family (Previous example is based on some news somewhere and genders can be exchanged). While it's possible to respect the endurance and time management skills of such newsmakers, SL provides a new outlet for those who are attached, but seeking the thrill and adrenaline of someone new. Business travel provides opportunities the spouses who remain at home rarely know about, and now, in addition to exploring that newspaper want ad and hiring a prostitute, attached avs have the temptation of meeting their SL lover in person.

With access to an online "game" comes the responsiblity of recognizing the people in our RLs and the people behind the avatars in SL. Meeting SL lovers in RL is the decision of the adults involved. However, focus needs to remain on the risk of any new relationship and the responsibilities to the old relationships. To be safe with an ethical approach, end RL relationships before agreeing to meet an SL lover. Not only is it right for the person we leave behind, it's best to stand on our own following the end of any relationship before diving into a new one.

He Who Has The Most Toys...Lags

Shopping is life for many of us in SL. When the clubs bore us and our partner isn't on for some SL bedroom (bathroom/backyard/kitchen) fun, the shops remain to provide us endless entertainment with new clothing, gadgets and furniture. We're spared the need to hang our clothes in closets and put our unused furniture in storage, but how much impact does a 20,000 item inventory have on game play?

The fact is, inventory upload requires that resources used for graphic downloads and uploads be split. Additionally, inventory storage requires space in your computer's cache (explaining why clearing your cache requires a reload of inventory). So, a large inventory may prove that you're a great shopper and have an eye for all the SL bargains out there, but deleting those unused freebies will probably spare you some lag and improve gameplay.

making sl cocktails reality

The picture above is an actual sl cocktail called watermelon rum cooler.

It looks so yummy in SL why not have it in RL. A few common summertime ingredients will make this delicious beverage one you can really enjoy as your av sips away.

1/2 cup Simple Syrup
1 large watermelon
2 cups pineapple juice
1 cup fresh orange juice
1/2 cup fresh lime juice
1 1/2 cups rum, or more, if you like

It says it serves 16 people but I'd say 8 for safe measures. Also triple the rum. Enjoy and have a great safe summer.

I really enjoy my work here at inV Daily. One moment I am stalking a Mouse and the next I get an IM - [Ammon Pera: This is funny, can you write a paragraph?] and I'm off on a new adventure.

Like this link to the 60 second video "Thriller". At a glance it is fun, but then wow, how did they do that and is that really Second Life. Well, yes it is Second Life, in July 2004, 4 years ago, when Ulrika Zugzwang won First Prize in the "New Moves for a New World" animation contest . This video had a cast of 13 actors, a production crew of 8 and cost 15,000L$ for scripts, clothing, skin, location, and sets. The animation rate was 1.14 min/frame for a total animation time of 36.5 hours. And no I don't know what that means but those who do are HOOing.

I'm fascinated by what was done without the resources we take for granted in today's Second Life Client. My Neko curiosity is definitely piqued and I want to learn more about animation: just as soon as I catch that Wireless Mouse.

Customer Satisfaction?

We all know that designers get busy with massive demands for their products, issues with SL glitches and the search for the newest trend. However, without the customer, the need for the creations would no longer exist. Some of the best in SL have fallen victim to the belief that focusing primarily on new must-haves will keep them going, forgetting that relationships with the public are necessary for business stability.

What happens, then, if a respected designer fills his or her profile with answers to questions that would be better answered with a polite IM? How much of an impact does it have on you as a consumer to read in the designer's profile such terse statements as "All sales are final no refund or exchange, we dont change permit for personal reasons under any circumstances","Not Interested in Renting Spaces," and "No Model Needed?" Does seeing such an approach to business leave you questioning the quality of customer service you'll receive from the designer?

Feel free to discuss in comments, but please do not use specific designer names or your moderated comment will not be published. All comments should remain civil.

rl is so last year

There was a time when we had to actually pull away from our Second Lives to take care of RL matters. A time when those firewalls at work kept some of us watching the clock or in off-world IMs trying to keep up. Guess those days are over. Now RL can be just a backdrop to our Second Lives as SL is perfectly portable. Now you actually can take your SL lover to a RL restaurant. I'd love to see the look on that waiter's face. I suppose that would certainly make taking someone out on an RL date alot cheaper. Go ahead an order the surf and turf, they'll be happy to eat prims. Of course, you won't be able to ask them to right click and pay when the bill comes.

Is our rl becoming extinct? Take a look at the video below.

We Can't Escape the "I" Word

Inflation isn't an issue that affects RL exclusively. We've seen increases in prices of goods in Second Life, expected tips to entertainment professionals and perhaps most notably increased tier rates. While we fight rising costs of gasoline, groceries and household goods, spending in Second Life is a dilemma we all face. Many are choosing to pass up premium accounts and owning land on private islands, or simply refraining from owning land at all.

Basic economics suggest that decreased demand will decrease tier rates. Are the Lindens likely to grasp this concept with current RL conditions, or will the rates remain static? This remains to be seen. Perhaps we'll see more land to buy and less land filled with reasons to have an SL.

If your looking for land it's a great time with great deals included.
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Grampian%20Pride%20Land/153/60/30

we all have done it, don't lie!!!

We all know in sl there is a lot of back stabbing everyday. I think it out numbers rl by a lot. I guess because in sl there isn't much repercussions. But their are some sad individuals who like to provoke it even more and laugh about it. Like Rupaul says "Honey if you can't love yourself then how the hell you going to love anyone else". You know the best thing to do is ignore, mute and banned. Anyway as long as civilization exists it will continue to remain on some level for whatever reasons (primarily jealousy). In your opinion who backstabbs the deepest? SM straight men, GM gay men, SW straight women, LW lesbian women or do we all do it?

Look at the pic at the top. He or she missed one damn.
Congratulations to Canterbury Kappler for winning 5k.

Is there going to be another anti group evolving?

How many times have you heard this before? Are non Sl people becoming like non smokers? I sure hope not. Please comment.

Lost Dreams and Aspirations Guest Editorial: Jason...

Almost 2 years ago now since I joined Second Life, I met somebody who became a very good friend to me for the ensuing journey I spent here in Second Life. His name is Othon Weiland. We both talked about and discussed how much we loved the Spanish owned island of Gran Canaria, which is a small tropical island just off the northwest coast of Morocco which thousands of European gay tourists flock to each year in RL to visit a famous gay shopping mall and nightclub complex called Yumbo. Instantly, Othon and I hit it off and both shared how we both would love to see Yumbo come to life in Second Life.
So the small concept of re-enacting Yumbo in Second Life started off in a small way and progressively the ideas and reality of the concept grew bigger and expanded rapidly. From what started on a small corner of a sim, evolved nearly 2 years later to something spread across 10 sims. Yes our vision of Yumbo came alive from its infancy stages to something which we have today discovered, went beyond its boundaries. The old adage, don't run before you can walk served true today as many people who jumped on the Yumbo bandwagon soon learned today to the disappointment of many.
The journey of Yumbo coming to life started originally between a simple discussion between Othon and I. Then a newcomer called Temepete Bellman arrived on the scene and became a truly devoted friend to Othon. He joined the quest to bring Yumbo to life in Second Life. Then a fellow land barron/entrepreneur by the name of Freddy Pimpernell hooked up with the boys and learned of their vision of Yumbo. Freddy at that time owned various parcels and land in the gay quarters of Second Life at that time.
Eventually, the three, Freddy, Othon and Temp decided to buy a sim together and share the tier fees 3 ways. They entitled it the Yumbo Park Hotel sim. Together, the 3 agreed to bring the reality of the very popular Yumbo to life in Second Life. That journey had its ups and downs, but together, the 3 worked well with their own collective expertise and skills. However, last year, Freddy unveiled the acquisition of a new sim to the surprise of many before the first sim was even finished being built or even generating any revenue.
Over the next several months, Yumbo grew into an empire of multiplying sims. One sim was reserved for a 5 star luxury class hotel, another for land sales, rentals and eventually a shopping mall and nightclub complex. Yumbo was growing and many people in the gay community in Second Life soon begun to sit up and take notice. I was asked by the boys to help them setup regular parties at the Yumbo sims to attract new visitors and drive up new business for their intended shopping mall. They hired me as their head of Entertainments Manager at Yumbo. I spent the next 6 months building partnerships and attracting some of the very best DJ's in the business to help make Yumbo a "must" destination to visit in Second Life.
The parties were rocking, the top brands in Second Life setup shop at the mall and Yumbo was flourishing. inV magazine begun sponsoring regular events and Yumbo rapidly made its mark. Then before we knew it, there was a 6th sim, 7th, 8th, 9th and eventually a 10th sim. To outsiders, it would seem Yumbo was propsering very successfully. However, only 2 of the sims were managing to break even and there were several events, which called into question Freddy's state of mind.
I won't go into the specifics of those, but I recall at one point mentioned to Othon and Tempete as to whether Freddy could be in financial trouble at the end of last year. I was assured that was not the case and we moved forward and although there were always doubts at the back of my mind because of numerous things which happened behind the scenes, Freddy's extravagant spending and continuous acquisition of new sims convinced me, his partners and those who entrusted him with their own money by buying land from him that all was above board.
Today, we learned that was clearly not the case. For the past 10 days, Freddy Pimpernell had been absent from Second Life without any explanation and the failure to inform anybody as to why. This had actually occurred several times in the past, but Freddy would conjure up convincing excuses, which would assure us all was well. However, several hours after Othon and Temp had sent Freddy approximately 200 US dollars earlier today in order to cover their share of the tier fees, Freddy finally logged on and left the following message to the Yumbo group: "Second Life - Group notice: Pimpernel is BROKE: I'm so sorry to tell but of some persenal happenings in rl, loosing my job I'm not able to continue the sl sorry!
"Freddy hadn't bothered to inform his business partners, Othon & Temp privately and even failed to contact them directly. They are frantically attempting to contact Freddy now by telephone and email to try and salvage what they can and save as much financial loss to their land owners and renters as possible. They are depending on Freddy's co-operation and if he is reading this, then for the sake of everybody who placed their trust in him, Freddy do the right thing and help Othon and Temp salvage the situation as much as they possibly can. As it stands right now, the future of Yumbo is all up in the air.
It's a shame that such wasted dreams and aspirations are wasted like this. It serves as a lesson learned that if you are intending to buy a sim, it's always best to buy that sim on your own as difficulties arise when ownership for more than one person occurs as Linden Labs only recognize the one name that is listed as estate manager. Also, it's a lesson learned that continually buying sims for the sake of it and to float and gloat before being established and generating a profit has consequences on those that place their trust in you and invest their own hard earned cash in you.
Hopefully, Freddy will co-operate with Othon and Freddy and help them try and salvage as much of Yumbo as possible. If so, then Yumbo is without a doubt likely to diminish in the number of sims and perhaps also diminish in its reputation stakes it once carried. Without that co-operation, then Yumbo will fade into none-existence and many people who have invested in Yumbo will all lose out financially including the 2 remaining owners, Othon and Temp who also invested heavily and are left in the mire having to pickup the pieces and facing the flack in very difficult circumstances through no fault of their own.Yumbo can be salvaged and the damage limitation can be kept to an absolute minimum or it can die a slow and agonizing death that could potentially affect people's trust in future decisions when considering whether to invest in the Second Life community with us all. The fate that Yumbo will face depends on whether Freddy Pimpernell now does the right thing. I for one hope he does and I'm sure the rest of the inV Magazine community will join me in encouraging Freddy Pimpernell to do the right thing.
We at the daily & inV monthly wish them the best and the brightest futures.
