Club Shampoo Makes its Mark!

Club Shampoo Makes its Mark!
by: Jason Feingold

Last Night, Club Shampoo opened its doors for the very first time and made an indelible positive impression in the club scene. The club was setup by the very popular DJ Queen Edman. I’ve known Queen for a very long time now and I’ve had the pleasure of working with him on a number of occasions including at Gay Pride earlier this year. I’ve seen him rise as a DJ Superstar and grow more confident over the past year and anybody who has ever hired Queen to DJ will tell you that he is one of the most professional and reliable DJs out there. So, it was my absolute pleasure and delight to be asked by Queen to DJ on his Launch Party alongside 5 other of the absolute very best and most notable DJ’s out there. It was great to see Queen’s dream and vision of owning and running his own club come to life yesterday after what can only described as a hugely successful opening night.

Club Shampoo kicked off with DJ Insyx Paranha for the first hour and he soon got everybody into full party mode with his popular gay pride hits. By the time I arrived at the party ready for my shift for hour number 2, the Club was already packed and the sim was at full capacity. Many of my DJ Jason group members were IMming me saying that they couldn’t get to the party because the sim was full. The crowd was pumped, energetic and were clearly having a blast from start to finish. Anybody who knows me is only too aware at how I love DJing at the bigger crowds. Some DJ’s prefer to play to smaller crowds with the more personal approach, which that brings while others thrive on playing at the bigger crowded parties. I am admittedly in the latter camp. The event was sponsored by Animations Rising and Colt Parx was on hand to assist Club Owner Queen Edman and Club Host, Revan Contepomi ensure everybody had a great time.

The Club was on fire from start to finish. Lots of old faces showed up that I hadn’t seen in a while, but it was clear that so many people wanted to come out in full force and support Queen Edman and Club Shampoo. It was absolutely awesome to see such an electric atmosphere and be a part of it. I played lots of new high energy dance and trance hits and DJ Vortmax Mumfuzz took over the decks after me and altered the tempo stepping it up with some of his favourite rock tracks. DJ Sasch Petrov (owner of DJ World) from Germany added a Euro pop twist to the decks and then the King of DJ,s Wesley Spengler turned the place upside down. The Main Event, was the club owner himself, Queen Edman who kept the crowd partying through the night in what was one of the biggest and most successful Club Launches seen in months. Last night, Club Shampoo proved it’s here to stay and has reinvigorated the gay club scene.

The gay club scene has been crying out for more clubs like this in the past month or so and Club Shampoo is a shining example of a highly recharged club scene and has now set a new standard bearer for others to follow. I chatted to Queen Edman before my set and he made me laugh remarking “I don't know how the hell u ran a club, I'm going nuts – LOL!” That totally cracked me up. I know only too well how pressurized it can be running a club and one that has attracted huge crowds on the night that demand your full attention and all the problems on the night that can arise in ensuring everything runs smoothly. However, last night Queen Edman handled it within his stride and made the gay community proud in Second Life. I wish Queen and Club Shampoo the very best of luck and I can’t wait to spin the decks again there very soon.

The club will open its doors again this week on Thursday for a Hard Rock Night with DJ Lillandra Lancaster. Queen Edman takes to the decks on Friday night for a foam party and there'll also be an exciting Fusion Party on Saturday Night with the very best trance and rave music. Check out Club Shampoo this week and show your support for SL's hottest new gay dance club.

A Star is Born... and the Club Scene just got HOTTER!

Greets, fellow Club-Crawlers!

It's my pleasure to post this little review of what promises to be one HOT night spot, now looming on our collective horizon... SODOM, the brainchild of James Hoorenbeek, and operated by James, Random Jarvinen, Club Manager Equinox Donner, and other team members, for our collective dancing and night-clubbing pleasure.

The club features 3 dance venues, including a rooftop party area, third-floor indoor dance club, and a "dungeon"... let your imagination wrap around those concepts, just a bit, along with the name, lol!

Also featured will be shopping, beach/boardwalk, and apartment rentals, all stylishly appointed and beautifully designed and executed, to provide a stunning venue for SL's vibrant gay community, (and, of course, all are welcome!).

It's my pleasure to have been chosen as one of the first Dancers for the club, along with Aiddyn McCullough, Kaine Singer, and Tanner Burnstein, and and I can tell you from two brief "pre-party" events that this is going to be one great place to hang, dance, and socialize... and the hot attendees will definitely be worth a passing perv-cam or two, hee hee!

Already featured have been DJ Dafydd Sodwind and DJ Muhu Janus, spinning their awesome collections of stunning club beats for our listening and dancing pleasure, and if my instincts prove right, the list will only grow and improve as this new venue takes off.

Look for the Grand Opening Event, called "Hotter than HELL", on Friday, October 31st at 8PM SLT, (to midnight and perhaps beyond?), with DJ Dafydd doing a 4-hour live mix, promotion courtesy of Total Trauma™, and a grand prize of $25000L (yes, that's right 25K!) for best costume!

Your Dancers will be adorned in "Slave Boy" silks, courtesy of Miro Callas, and psst! come closer... clicking on them may prove rather, erm, "entertaining", lol!

I do hope, with all the parties occurring around the Hallowe'en holiday, that you'll put aside some time to drop in and participate in what promises to be a truly stunning Grand Opening of a very promising and "drama free" dancing and night-clubbing venue... explore the SIM, and take in the beautiful facilities, and always, always, HAVE FUN!!!

inV Daily Interview with DJ Superstar Contest Winner: Queen Edman

INV Daily Interview with DJ Superstar Contest Winner: Queen Edman
Conducted by: Jason Feingold

Thursday September 25

Jason Feingold: Hi Queen, thanks for sitting down with me today and congratulations on winning the Search for a DJ Superstar Contest this past Sunday. How did it feel to be declared the winner?
Queen Edman: Feels great.
Jason Feingold: It actually came really close between you and Lillandra Lancaster and you both came to a dead heat on the scores, which resulted in all 3 Judges having to individually choose a winner. What was going through your mind as you were waiting for all 3 Judges to choose a name?
Queen Edman: I was sweatin it for a while. What was going thru my mind? I need this win. lol
Jason Feingold: When you were both standing there facing the Judges at that final critical moment, did you think your name was gonna be called our or did you think, "nah, this girl's gonna get it?"
Queen Edman: Hard to say. I had a feeling it was going to be my named called but I was yelling at the judges in RL.
Jason Feingold: I think I could practically hear you. You both had your eyes fixed on me. It wasn't nice being Simon Cowel,l I can assure you. LOL. There were 6 DJ’s performing in the contest in total. I saw that you managed to stick around during most of the event. What did you think of the other DJ talent who also competed?
Queen Edman: You know, all 6 DJs are very good there, including myself.
Jason Feingold: Did any of the others stand out in your eyes?
Queen Edman: Yes and no. See I'm more a club DJ and some of the DJs in the competition are heavy metal DJs so the one I tied with is an awesome DJ but she's different that I am so were kinda equal in our own rights.
Jason Feingold: True, I think some of the DJ's entering perhaps didn't realize that the crowd wasn't largely used to some of the metal music a couple of the DJ's played, but it was a contest open to any genre of music. We had a huge explosive crowd all night, over 50 people and most stayed pretty much the entire duration. How did it feel playing to such a huge and vibrant crowd at Club High Energy?
Queen Edman: The crowd was great. I love to play to a large crowd
Jason Feingold: did you feel their energy? I know some DJ's prefer more personal smaller crowds and others prefer playing to a bigger crowd because they get a buzz from it. So playing to bigger crowds is more your preference?
Queen Edman: There was more energy there as opposed to say like 10 in the club. I'm used to playing to all size crowds. I've been working for Ironworks over a year and some days we get packed and some not.
Jason Feingold: What motivates you as a DJ and what gives you the biggest satisfaction from DJing in Second Life?
Queen Edman: DJ'n for me is like a high. I enjoy making others happy. Every time I hear someone yell, "I love this tune" I get blown away because I've done my job.
Jason Feingold: What would you say to anybody out there thinking of starting out DJing in Second Life? Would you recommend it and what advice would you potentially offer to them?
Queen Edman: Hate to say it this way but it takes skill to be a DJ anyone can play music but if u want to DJ then know something about what your doing.
Jason Feingold: If somebody new did want to learn the ropes, what would you suggest in order to help them learn the fundamentals?
Queen Edman: Really, go listen to other DJs first. I still do that.
Jason Feingold: What would you describe as your favorite genre of music that you typically like to play during your sets?
Queen Edman: I spin country and rock also but when I'm in the club, I love music with a good beat and music that people can relate too. If that means playing bubblegum pop club tune then I will. So many times, I've gone into RL clubs and never heard a single song I knew. I don't want to fall into that.
Jason Feingold: Well the music you opted for this past Sunday certainly did pay off. It was a lot of fun. The crowd and all 3 Judges including myself really got into your set
Jason Feingold: You have your first DJ set at Club High Energy this Friday Night as the DJ Superstar Contest Winner. What are your thoughts of Club High Energy and are you excited to play there?
Queen Edman: I'm very excited to play there. I hope to blow them away like I did in the contest.
Jason Feingold: On behalf of inV Daily, it has been a pleasure conducting this interview with you Queen Edman. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions today.
Queen Edman: umm just one more thing lol. I promised InsyX Piranha to give him a shout out. He's been like a brother to me ever since I started in the old Ironworks.
Jason Feingold: We're still trying to schedule that guy to work for us, so there's another plug! Next one is 1000 lindens please. LOL

Search for a DJ Superstar

Photos by Eddi Haskell

We searched for a DJ Superstar on September 21st with a panel of 3 judges (Eddi Abdul or Eddi Haskell, Ammon Cowell and Jason Jackson) and 6 wonderful DJs. The inV Daily sponsored event allowed each DJ to show their amazing talent for 45 minutes, followed by (very vanilla, as Ammon Cowell's brand of scoring was really mild--bad Ammon) American Idol comments before the next contestant took the stream.

The evening ended with judge technical issues and me reluctantly filling in with his comments. Although the contest should've ended with the last scoring we ended up with a tie between Queen Edman and and Lillandra Lancaster. The judges voted for their favorites among the two with the first two judges casting a vote for each and adding to the suspense of the moment. Jason Jackson (High Energy Owner, Jason Feingold) was stuck with the stressful decision of choosing the DJ Superstar. After a good five minutes of stalling, Jackson declared that the DJ Superstar was Queen Edman and the High Energy Queen was Lillandra Lancaster. Queen Edman won $5000L, superstardom and guaranteed shifts at the rocking High Energy. Watch for an upcoming interview here with him.

Kudos to all DJs who performed at the event. The turnout was amazing and all contestants kept the club rocking.

Peccers and spice

The weekend of September 13/14, after the somber reminiscence of 9/11, was spiced with another of CLUB HIGH ENERGY's incredible weekend event schedules, to include a "Best Pecs" event/contest.

The Best in Pecs event brought out some of the "smexiest" avatology amongst Second Life's vibrant gay community, a chesty collection of bare-breasted, breathtaking men and beasts, shaking and baking their way to another record-breaking, rawkin' party.

Once again, HIGH ENERGY held sway as Second Life's Numero Uno dance destination, and is increasing it's eclectic mix of all type of folks, and all types of critters gathering to celebrate, dance, and show off the best in their inventories, for the eye-popping pleasure of all! Get there!

spot the altsssss anyone?

Let me put your mind at rest over the alts/bots question. There was indeed an alts platform on the DI club sim in January-February 2008, when it first became apparent that DI was losing visitors. It was located on the southern border of Incubus Islands, at a height of 750 metres.

In recent times they resorted to using a sploder in the ICE Mall sim to distort traffic numbers there, because of the increasing amount of unrented stores. The sploder would be rezzed for an hour or two, and then removed. On a Friday not so long ago, they collected a massive 65 sploder hunters on the sim.

The allegation that DI staff were using alts on the dancefloor seems to have originated around the same time they rezzed the alts platform at the start of this year. The allegation was persistant, and they were unable to shake it.

Not illegal, plenty of places use the same tactics. They did it to raise the club profile in Search, and to fool clubbers and store renters that the sims were more popular than reality. It's just a great shame that they needed to resort to such secretive methods to try and bucket the water out of a sinking boat.

DI Closed: Take 438972546797?

CLOSED FOR COMMENTS
We've all seen the website or heard the news on the rumor mill: the gay club DEVILinside has closed (again). Yawn -- we've heard this before, as a ploy to get attention when attendance is down, and it's hard to believe this isn't yet another attempt to increase traffic when (and if) the public is allowed in again. As club guests, we don't want to be manipulated or made part of silly games. We are looking for a good place for music, conversation, fun and relaxation.

DEVILinside used to be *the* best place on the grid for gay parties. Guests would gather in the club to meet the hottest guys, and countless partnerships began there. It was full most days of the week. It was exciting. It was fun. Fast forward and today it is DEADinside. I interviewed Ayor for inV when DI was smoking and can't believe how hard it has fallen. So what happened to lead to the club's downfall? My one word answer: EGO. When you believe you can never fail is exactly when others find your weaknesses and prove that you can. It's amazing how Ayor and Luca ran that club into the ground.

So, what are some things I observed that drove people away from DI? While I was never banned from the club, I saw several people banned for minor issues; sometimes for simply disagreeing with the owners. Yes, sometimes people need to be banned (think griefers), but when a club depends on filling the room with people, banning someone just because you don't like them isn't good business.

In addition, the attitude of DI management to staff and DJs many times left the staff feeling underappreciated. The bad staff took it out on the guests (or ignored them totally), the good staff left and took the crowds with them. And who can blame them? As staff problems got worse many people were alienated, and is it any wonder that people choose to party at BLU, Tainted Boys or High Energy instead? DIs response was typical: in desperation they banned many club owners for simply having a club that drew their usual crowd, which turned even more people off of the club. Did they not think people noticed there boor business and behavior?

It's a shame that a club with so much potential had to turn to such low measures in a futile attempt to keep a crowd. Close to the end there were rumors they were using bots to fill the place. People don't appreciate manipulation, and won't fall for the "club closing" ploy. If DI had wanted to recover, it was possible through strong management and client focus, but anger and ego got in the way. Was this because they had a kid with no experience run the club? The glory days will be missed, but the struggles and manipulative games won't. Even if it *does* return it will never be respected and appreciated as it once was. The king is dead.

This is the notecard for the first ploy at getting attention. It was apparently leaked out by accident, yeah right. Have a look.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After many weeks of procrastination Ayor and myself have decided to close DEVILInside. This will take effect from Friday May 16th at 12 midnight.

The closure is due for the most part to our "Lack of Motivation" and the lack of motivation of staff. This closure may or may not be permanent. The club will remain in place but no public access will be permitted.

If you would like to discuss this please IM Ayor or myself as we are not closed to suggestions regarding the club.

We would like to thank you all for your support over the past 18 months. It has been a fantastic journey for us all.

At this stage we may re-open after the Northern summer, but we will assess that closer to the time.

Kind regards

Ayor & Luca

If it is dead why haven't we been ejected from the group?

Rapture/Blu Party

It seemed that everyone turned out for Rapture's event at Blu's special build in the sky. Despite SL's tantrums the party went on for hours. As usual, conversation, music and hot men filled the scene, making this the place to be in Second Life.

Even though the event wasn't at Blu's usual location, the trademark logo and colors transferred the atmosphere. The Blu Boys provided eye candy and kept the crowd pumped while some of SL's hottest DJs (Dj Shep, Dj Wes and Dj Adham)played our favorite music. For great fun and dancing, we couldn't have asked anything more. Thank you Rapture Club Circuit for another great job.

White Party tonight

< DJ Shep will take to the decks on Saturday at 7pm sl time to host a huge White Party with a Best in White Contest and 1000 Lindens will be up for grabs. Fridays and Saturday’s will be the two key nights at the brand new exciting club: Friday’s with DJ Jason and Saturday’s with DJ Shep. Both nights will have regular themed events and contests with lots of hot sexy High Energy Dance Boys and club hosts to keep you entertained and partying through the night.

The new Club High Energy Manager, Jason Feingold, shared what the new club was all about. “Well, we’re all about creating a very welcoming and fun atmosphere to our guests. The club under its old management needed a new ethos of making everybody welcome. We’re not about having cliques. We want to be the number one destination on the gay scene’s weekend calendar in SL and we will pull out all stops to make that happen. I’m confident it can be done and am totally sure that everybody is gonna love the new club with me and DJ Shep at the helms."

Club High Energy has high ambitions in Second Life and seems to have assembled a team necessary to take it to those heights. With the proprietor Eddi Haskell, overlooking the smooth running of operations, Jason Feingold adding his creative energy to plans at the club as Manager and a whole new set of hosts such as Danr Raymaker and Jaho Yalin and new dancers taking center stage at the club, Club High Energy has its sights set high. We all like to let our hair down at the weekends and what better place than a club that has unlimited potential and aspiration than Cub High Energy.

Team inV is going to be there to get the lowdown on the club’s first opening night and we hope you all join us too for what promises to be an off the page party! We’ve also learned about some very exciting events that the club has lined up in the coming weeks and we’re very excited about the prospects of Club High Energy. Join us and everybody else this Friday Night, August 15 for what’s gearing up to be the summer’s hottest club opening, get ready for some HIGH ENERGY!!!

DJ Jason Feingold back with another Top 5

This is DJ Jason Feingold back with another Top 5 Music Picks for the INV Daily so let’s waste no time and take a look at this week’s top 5:

1) Cascada – What Do You Want From Me (Alex K remix) --- I am one of Cascada’s biggest fans and they’ve proved that they are the Kings and Queens of dance and club anthems. Cascada goes from strength to strength in her latest high adrenaline chart topper and be sure to check out the Alex K remix, which blows away the original. Cacada is this week’s number 1 and deservedly so, this is an absolute must track for any dedicated DJ to have in their collection.

2) Darren Styles with Ultrabeat – Paradise & Dreams --- Darren Styles makes it into the Top 5 for a second week running with Paradise & Dreams. This track is taken from Style’s new skydiving album and is High Energy trance all the way. Styles and Ultrabeat prove that they are the perfect partnership each time they team up with Paradise & Dreams proving why Darren Styles really is the King of Hardcore in clubland.

3) Jonas Brothers – I Wan’na Be Like You --- This fun song has made it into the Top 5 because its been making the rounds in several of the gay clubs that have all hosted Jungle Parties within the past week. The song’s taken from the Jungle Book, but the 3 Jonas Brothers have made this song totally cool, edgy and surprizingly fit for purpose in clubland and how can I not mention how cute the Jonas Boys all happen to be!

4) Usher – Love in this Club (remix ft. TI & Young Jeezy) --- I’ve never been a fan of playing much of Usher’s music in my sets, but this is one track by Usher that bulldozes its way into my playlist frequently. Usher creates lots of sexual heat in this track, which is perfect when you wanna get down and dirty with your other half (or your secret love) on the dancefloor with the Club remix sounding more upbeat and quirky than its original.

5) Enrique Inglesias – Push ft Lil Wayne --- Enrique makes it into the Top 5 this week with his latest track featuring Lil Wayne. It’s different to his usual music, but it’s really great on the instrumentals and although it has a slightly slower tempo than most of the music I personally opt for in my own sets, this one does have a suitable place when you’re winding down your set and wanna give your clubbers some chance to let off some steam and lust on the dancefloor. Push is a hot beat with the incredibly sexy Enrique Inglesias proving he still has plenty of shelf life yet and the music video to this track is also worth checking out too.

That’s it from me this week, I’ll be back next week with another Top 5 and if you wanna hear this week’s top 5 tonight, then I’ll be playing all 5 during my set tonight at the launch of Club High Energy (formerly Jake’s Club) later tonight!

Copycats/inV gives a thumbs down to Spirit dancebar

Most good SL builders refuse to copy another design, and some refrain from copying even a tiny part of another building. It's a part of the architect's moral code in world and it benefits us by providing a unique look to each sim we visit. Unfortunately, morality isn't a part of everyone's drive and copycat builds do exist. Yet, what if it's not just a build, but an entire club, that is duplicated? Last night's opening of Spirit at Gay Village introduced a club that is so obviously replicating Blu in Boystown that inV found it essential to share the lack of ethics.

Spirit, owned by two current Boystown residents, bears such a striking resemblance to Blu that it's impossible to deny that this was a blatant theft of logo design, building and club concept. As the picture above shows, Spirit even went so far as to create shirts exactly like those worn by the Blu Boys with the only difference being the Spirit logo and color. The logos are also so similar that Spirit seems linked to Blu.

Whether Spirit is trying to play off Blu's success, recreating what has worked with another club or based on even worse motives, we may never know. However, when copying occurs it usually is testimony to the lack of creativity on the copycat's behalf. As Aribella Dinzeo said, "Oh, well, I don't think they are the same, Spirit is not executed well.. Blu on the other hand is amazing, reminds me of a club irl, in Vegas!"

Not only have Spirit's owners crossed an ethical line, they did it poorly. As patrons of such establishments, we need to consider how early morals will impact the venues we frequent in the future. Is it better to attend a club that began with creativity and a unique approach or to spend our time and Lindens at a club that is simply a subpar recreation of a quality club?

Happy Birthday Jake

Once again, Jake's Club took over the SL nightlife and inV was there to help celebrate the birthday of JakeC Hotshot. Those who gathered on Nasturtium Island for the festivities danced and chatted amid a plethora of balloons, confetti and poofers. DJ Muhu Janus entertained the crowd with a great set. As always, the party rocked the grid.

inV staff would like to take this opportunity to wish Jake a very happy birthday.

The Opening of the New Jake's Club

The grand opening of the new Jake's was wall-to-wall hot bodies, made all the hotter by DJ Shep's master mixing. Eddi and Jake started off the night with another amazing fireworks display - of course they rarely do anything small. Cienega Soon opened the club and the crowd rushed in. The club itself is no different, this spectacular spacious build by UMMMM Kazan was packed with some of the hottest guys and gals on the grid. The staff of Jake's made everyone feel like star's and kept the party pumping non-stop. We want to wish everyone at Jake's all the very best. Thanks guys for one unforgettable party.
