Relativity

Most of us are aware of the works of M.C. Escher (1898-1972) whose graphic art challenges the mind with stunning depictions of illusions that defy physics. His works became noted among mathematicians who recognized their role in portraying mathematical paradoxes. For laymen, his pieces are brilliant studies of optical challenges.

One piece, Relativity (1953), has been recreated in-world by Furia Freeloader. The three-dimensional build recreates the work fully with custom created poseballs and items from the original work. Using a rezzing cube, which was custom scripted for the house, one can turn the building to experience each point of gravity depicted by Escher in the original piece.

The function of the rezzing cube in the display home is blocked, but Freeloader offers the home for sale for $L9000. For those who are unsure about purchasing the building, but would like a souvenier of their visit, a book explaining the build and Escher's work is available by clicking the sale sign. Escher's Relativity in Second Life is definitely a site worth checking out and a unique home for those who want something different than the standard.

Liking this! Escher's work on the page is one thing, you can puzzle over it, but to recreate it in SL... lol. Great project!

And look at the giant Chameleon on the lawn, is it just me, or do the eyes MOVE...???

It is a fun place, and you don't get the opportunity to explore Escher's works in 3D just anywhere. This is a gem.

What an amazing way to spend some time! This is what SL is about; being able to bring to "life" all the wonderful things that exist only in our hearts and minds in RL.
