Saturday Night Coming Out Party!

It’s one of the biggest events on the Second Life calendar, Second pride! It’s an annual event which takes place each year attracting some of the biggest businesses, DJs and other entertainers to raise funds for a good cause. Pride 2009 will be in aid of raising funds for Amnesty International and it’s scheduled to take place next May. However, the Pride organizers are staging a Second Pride 2009 “Coming Out” event tonight.

The event takes place on the Atlantis 2100 sim and will include a speech from the Second Pride Chairman, introduction to what Gay Pride 2009 will involve and there will also be a huge party on the dance floor with tunes from Kayla Kuhn. There will be two separate events for the Coming Out party in order to cater for people from different time-zones. The first one takes place at the European friendly time of 2pm sl time and finishes at 4pm sl time. There’ll also be a North American friendly time party from 6pm – 8pm sl time.

You can visit the Second Pride 2009 Coming Out event at the following link. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Vernada/15,128,5101

It's great to donate but sad to be asking when the economy is so bad. We should all be alittle more thoughtful in asking people for donations in economic crisis and just enjoy sl in sl. Keep the rl charities for rl. The people wanting or so inspired to build charities get another job in rl and donate your pay check.

It's understandable that during tougher economic times that people are unable to donate what they would be able to during more affluent times. I personally think that choosing Amnesty International as 2009's Second Pride benefactor is an excellent decision. They do so much to try and help and assist against people who's human rights are being abused including gay. lesbian, bi and transgender issues.

It unfortunately remains the case that despite economic levels currently falling; the number of human rights abuses around the world do not commensurately fall too. If you can give to support this great organization, great! Donating to charities is always voluntarily as it should be. People choose if to donate and how much to donate according to what they can afford and this applies equally to prosperous and less affluent times.

Whether people choose to donate in Second Life or Real Life doesn't really matter just as long as the money in both cases goes to where it's supposed to do and in the vast majority of cases, it does. If you can donate to good causes such as Amnesty International, big or small, every little really does help in SL or RL.

Atlantis 2100 was honored to be included as the venue of choice for this charitable event. It takes alot of RL cash to make the SP event happen every year for the SL community as I am sure all are aware. I am impressed the committee members go a step further by donating to deserving RL charities too.

Donating is never compulsory at any Atlantis 2100 event. The funds are solicited from those who care to and are able to give. But the party is always open to all of the fantastic Avis that populate SL.

Thanks to evreyone for supporting SP, Amnesty International, and Atlantis 2100 whether in thought and spreading the word, through being present at the events, being an active member in our group, or by passing on a few spare lindens. All are always appreciated.
