He Who Has The Most Toys...Lags

Shopping is life for many of us in SL. When the clubs bore us and our partner isn't on for some SL bedroom (bathroom/backyard/kitchen) fun, the shops remain to provide us endless entertainment with new clothing, gadgets and furniture. We're spared the need to hang our clothes in closets and put our unused furniture in storage, but how much impact does a 20,000 item inventory have on game play?

The fact is, inventory upload requires that resources used for graphic downloads and uploads be split. Additionally, inventory storage requires space in your computer's cache (explaining why clearing your cache requires a reload of inventory). So, a large inventory may prove that you're a great shopper and have an eye for all the SL bargains out there, but deleting those unused freebies will probably spare you some lag and improve gameplay.

...many people I know have multiple accounts and spread their inventory up to reduce lag. Just something to consider.

Every time you Friend someone in SL, you get their Calling Card and these cards keep checking to see if that friend is online. You don't really need these cards and if you have many, deleting them may reduce lag ^;^

The cards in your inventory are good if you don't want to friend someone, but want them to have the information to contact you again. You can do this by right clicking on an av, choosing more and choosing the "give card" option. This is good for vendors, builders, DJs, dancers, escorts and other professions where easy contact is necessary, but the personal connotation of a friend addition is inappropriate or unfeasable due to an overwhelming friends list.

Additionally, they can come in handy if you accidentally remove a friend and need to add again. Then there's the fact that you always know exactly when so-and-so friended you, but that doesn't seem to have many uses.

Other than these reasons, they just seem to be inventory hogs and lag creators. If anyone else knows another reason to have them (especially that they be given when you friend someone), I'd love to know.

Hey, don't pass on information like this, let me stay in blissful ignorance and blame everything on SL lag, it can't be the mess in my inventory, lol.
