How Much Do You Spend?

Spending in SL is easy. A myriad of shops are available with minimal travel time to each one, tipping a favorite DJ or dancer is a must and then we have the joy of renting space to put our purchases. The Linden Exchange provides the RL rates for in-world currency, and a glance at the following graphic can demonstrate just how much those purchases add up.
Conversions based on current rates. Please visit the Second Life website for up-to-date information.

Intersting when you look at it this way. This will make me be more cautious in my future spending.

REALLY For every 1000L I spend in SL is a gallon of gas. I agree this makes me wonder about my fribulous spending in SL and puts things in perspective.

The greatest rip off is the tier prices , you can buy good land for the price of a "MONTHS TIER" that does not make any sence at all, SL customers are feeling the impact of the World economy gas ,food, interest rates so they are walking off the land while SL raises its tier!! thats bad busineSS

I think the hobby has become a GREEDY business for many. Actually taking away the fun for many. Min. wage in the U.S is 10.25 which is not bad so it me curious to total my current outfit I have on (just clothes reminds everyone fake clothes)and it came up to alittle over 11.00 usd. Is it worth it? You decide. Thanks Demerick great post.

This blog is great. I just added my outfit also

Shape 1000L= 4.50usd
Skin 2000L=9.50usd
Hair 400L=2.00usdusd
Shirt 250L= 1.00usd
Pants 500L=2.00usd
Shoes 400L=2.00usd
Face light freeusd

21.00usd

Like everyone our inventories are full. So I am really curious what my total investment is for fake things.
I think I am going to really watch my spending too. This has become more then just a game indeed.

My normal everyday thing is shopping so i decided today I would not buy anything but rather notecard what I'd normally spend a day not thinking about it. Grand total 3200 which seems like nothing. This is really something its almost 14usd. Thats 430usd a month on just clothes and thats not including my tipping and land tier. My purse is becoming alittle less giving.

no kidding.

You know it's true how many hairs, shapes, skins, shirts, pants, sunglasses do we need. Most sit in our inventories collecting dust. I am also going to be watching my lindens. This was a huge eyes opener for me and explains alot of my money problems in rl.

I calulated my land for fun
2 plots initial cost 50k
monthly tier14k x 12=168,000 a year
total in one year=1000usd
This doesnt included my home, furniture, clothes, entertainment.

How much do we spend in here?

They (landowners) are the biggest rip offs around. The intial cost and tier monthly and really you still don't own the land. How insane is this.

Anonymous said...

I cant even give away my land free. I am walking off it at the end of the month.

There are so many great places you can rent with no intial fee. Then if you decide to leave no problem. The intial fee is just another way the landlord pays his sim off x3and profits from you tier costs. Don't let them fool you anymore. They are like rl car dealers.

Huge wake up call on whats necessay and whats not. I much rather live a great real life than a fake one anyday.

We will have to get 3 rl jobs to play sl soon.

Well I'm glad the owners Musim is eating well over fake shirts while 90% of the economy is suffering. I think they take advantage of normal everyday people that want to have fun in sl. These prices are truly a rip off. You know its ashame that some people turned an enjoyment into a mess.

Makes you wonder what they are bringing in a month? I rate Musim #1 for the worst customer service. .

This really does put things in proper perspective. Great post.

Looking at this and adding up my land cost and X12 is mind blowing. I will be also looking for a different solution.

I am really going to start budgeting my spending.

I'm trying to sell my land too. I think I may trash it since its been 3 months and not even a bite. Advice to new people look for great deals. No property in sl is worth it anymore even if they claim it to be.

I think it's so funny to see the land pushers with their tags on walking around SL. Trying to brainwash us into thinking how glamorous it must be. It's only glamourous to them taking your money at the end of each month. We know better your land is worth nothing now a days.

I let my land go last month. I was paying 25,000L a month which is like 100usd a month=1,200 usd a year for a fake house. I am now renting a condo for 3000 a month which is roughly 130 usd a year. Renting is the way to go.

I just did the same thing. I got tired of paying tier for land I never really used. I gave my plot up too.

You know somethings are right in front of our faces but we never pay attention until a visual. This is amazing seeing it like this Lindens converted into usd. Huge fan of this blog.

Really something when you look at it like this. It is pretty scary to think we blow money around in here when our rl lives and economy are in financial ruins.

indeed looking at this made me think about down sizing my land I hardy ever use and start enjoying sl and people rather than buying every little thing I don't need.

Economy is a mess, Gas cost a ton, even milk, bread and eggs make a dent in the grocery bill, not to even mention meat.

I make and sell jewelry in SL. I sell the majority of my creations for 250L or less. That is less than 1 US dollar. I have always kept my prices low yet strive to make the most beautiful and unique creations that I can conceive of.

So, for less than a RL cup of Latte or a can of soda you can enjoy my wearable artworks.

Keep in mind SL is entertainment as well, and buying some things really does make you smile. : )

I have a boyfriend and a girlfriend in sl. It gets real expensive. They have no clue either one exists. But I enjoy both of them equally. I have to say girls are much more expensive but for gay guys they are much more grateful and I know sex is coming shortly after.

Just sleep around and get what you can free. Then you dont have to work or spend your own rl money. Let some suka pay your way.

I just walked off my land today.

...I know for me each month deciding on our inV monthly fashion editorial I cam and zoom every piece for flaws sent in for showcase. I do believe in the highest of quality and really if it makes you feel good on any level does this ever have a price.

What sad and scary is with the rl economy in such poor shape people will have to make some decisions in spending. This converter opens our eyes up. I also agree monthly tier cost are terrible and not worth it. I will be walking out on my property too.

indeed land is the worst investment for anyone. People are starting to see the costs and the very litle value it holds. My rl rent is more imprtant than my sl plot. I added my land expenses on a 4000sqm plot and I spend roughly 1000 usd as well a year. Throws it back to my landlord.

makes me really think about buying another pair of shoes ever again. Normally a pair is 400L which is like 2.00usd. 2.00 usd is nothing but in a week i'll get sick of them. How many shoes do we really need?

LAND is a RIP OFF. The only people slating its good are landlords and their friends. Don't be a victim.
